Something you wouldn't know about me...

I have a mild to moderate form of misophonia.

(Misophonia, literally "hatred of sound", is a neurological disorder in which negative experiences (anger, flight, hatred, disgust) are triggered by specific sounds.)

I literally hate the sound of food noises,  plastic bags, tin-foil, mouth noises from person or animal and utensils on plastic. These noises will cause me to go running from the room.

Most of the time, its really embarrassing.......Ive learned to control myself in public and can sit through it, but Im gritting my teeth the whole time.

Ive always had it.......my mom reports that I punched my brother and took away his morning cereal because the noise 'made me do it'. At the age of 4

Im a weirdo.

Wow, sounds like me...

I can't stand when someone whistles or hums. The noise drives me absolutely nuts.

Also, I wish I could solve a Rubik's Cube.

I have this phobia I think:

Voice Mail Phobia

When you are literally scared to death to check your voice mail because you feel you are certain there is bad news in your voice-mail you do not want to hear or do not want to confront.

I have a phobia of ringing telephones, always afraid it is someone going to read me the riot act.

I've always had this, when the phone rings it seriously startles me.

I refused to go to school in the 6th and 7th grade.  We moved and I was very shy.  I never had to make it up.  I got over it and just started going again.  I went straight to the 8th grade like nothing happened.

Like a boss Jenny! ;)

I met my BF online on a dating site (ugh). My cousin made an account for me without my permission and he started messaging me. For a while, I ignored him because he was skinny and I'm not exactly a toothpick, lol. Eventually I gave in and responded to him. We agreed to meet. The rest is history. :)

Oh I'm the exact same Julie, I have fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome it makes sound, noise more intense because of them and I can't cope with all those noises, eating snoring etc I feel bad that I can't stand to be in the room with even my kds when they are eating, I ven hate hearing someone breathing beside me, especially if they have a squeaky nose.

Oh my god the phone ringing and voice mails I am exactly the same and I wont answer private numbers out of fear, it's rediculous and I'm sick of it.

Hey Rach total respect to you and your rubex cube, they are bloody impossible to do, I think you are the first person I know that can do them, I just take the stickers off and cheat, disgraceful I know !!

I am an all Ireland badminton champion.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
