Hopefully this will encourage the newbies and lurkers. I am most thankful for being able to show my son that I wasn't a hopeless addict and could get back control of my life.

I am most thankful that everything I do and when or if I do it isn't determined by my need for a smoke. I am also thankful for not smoking highlighting a health issue I had been writing off as smoking related that really isn't.

I feel much better about myself and appreciate my life and the world around me much more than I used to. 

 

My last few years as a smoker were very dark and I had grown miserable as a smoker.  I think the word depressed could legitimately describe how I felt during this time.  Once I started to realize that I was really quitting for good this time, my overall mindset about life started to improve considerably.

I am thankful that my choice to quit smoking has led to a really deep inner strength and a feeling of trustworthiness towards myself.

I am thankful to no longer be a slave to that need to slake the addiction, every 45-90 minutes of my every day of every week of every month of every year of my life. I didn't even realize what a slave I was to the addiction, until I wasn't anymore.

I am thankful I had the strength to quit..and saved my two feet from possible amputation...and also to enjoy the time i have as a non smoker..

I am thankful that I realise how serious this addiction is, especially when read something written by the previous poster about having her feet amputated. I am thankful to no longer be a slave to this futile and nasty addiction.
