withdraws done 14 days of Urges, Trigger, and Craves ahead UTC

Have a need to converse this morning, I am heading into week two WTF ?  I think been awhile, HUMMMM  what are the three weeks ?

WTF, WTH and ??  well I do know these are two significant weeks, one is all emotional and the other is the fog and brain dump.

The withdraws went well kept myself busy, was around my non-smoking family and home   ???? question I have never smoked inside

any of my homes, even back then just didn't like the stale smell it left, plus the wife would have lite something under my Arse if I had.

OK question answered was thinking why, the wife thing answered that.

Did you smoke in your Home ?    the reason I did not so it gave me a safe haven to be this weekend in fact for ever, never have and never

will smoke in my house.    Outside was a different story,  thus my two hard hitting Craves came when I was work on my truck,  in the past

when I was thinking kicking a issue or problem around,  I would kick back, smoke and wonder into the back of my mind and resolve  what

ever the issue was.

This time NOPE strategy had to prevail, I had to come up with some other way to reach deep into my mind and run the scenarios and possibilities.

Enter "THE BRUCE"  my son in law, my Hunting Bud, and confidant, we laid under the truck and he would kick something out, I would kick something out Back and forth until we had a fairly solid plan,  No smoking required.

And mowing the lawn.  I really Hate Yard work, Painting and concrete work,  But the BRUCE wasn't going to Mow my Lawn for Me, so had to tough it out.

Now on issue with the lawn is last week I was draining the pool, to do some sealing and the wife wanted to paint it, well lst week end I had the car and truck on the lawn to was and came very close to backing into this huge sink hole !!!   in the middle of my yard   OK off subject if you all want to hear this one I have pics and will take it to social.

OK back to  Finding new ways to get passed the old triggers and one of them is to just get off of your duff and get what needs to be done done!!!!1

Buckle down say NOPE and go get the lawn mowed without falling into the sink hole.\

and Last but not least this !!   I  Write ,  Read about what is ahead  which I believe is Brain Drain, scrambled thoughts and a what feels like a never ending fog.

Hopefully due to the short term I fed this addiction all the above will not be as harsh, Dense or strong as my prior quit, smoked many a year and thousands of cigarettes,  This time was way way shorter and a small fraction of cigarettes.

OK need to run around a bit,  Later

You are just in the middle of hell week now opah. Then heck week and finally wtf week. That being said, you of all people know it's not just those weeks to worry about as far as keeping up your guard. You were what about 7 months quit when you relapsed? I'm reminding you of this because I'm seeing some of the same things that caused your relapse. So please stay on guard and I would suggest noping daily for the next year and taking the one year pledge....

AHH  But that is what I am trying to Change a Bit, I don/t want to be looking months in advance I want to be concentrating on what is and about to happen, Mount my forces, set up my defenses, and deal with what is at hand.

Thank you,  I am Listening, I am Understanding,  YOUR HO and advise are  gold to me !

You're right to stay focused on just the here & now rather than looking too far ahead in terms of the challenges but I think what Jillar was saying is that you know from having gone through this before that the quitting thing is actually a much longer process than just the first few weeks when things are VERY dramatic in terms of what you are experiencing. That said, you may be through the physical flushing of nicotine from your body, which is good but, the mental adjustment is what really takes a long time. And yes, just focus on the here and now for that mental reconditioning is what I would recommend. The issues you face will change anyway as you progress. Dealing with them as they come along works fine.

In the end, as you know, it really is all about the long term NOPE commitment. That's what will lead you to a successful long term quit :) Keep noping & keep posting!

I guess what I've had to change up the most with this quit was commitment.

Every minute, hour or day you stay with that commitment is a victory.

No need to look too far ahead if you don't want to - just commit - Smoking Is Not An Option.

I'm so happy for you! If you're feeling shaky - you know we are here...let us know!!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
