In case someone already mentioned this, sorry for the double post... but this is what gets me: When you have an operation, it happens in the theatre! lol

Under what circumstances would you smoke again?
Rain Forest replied to Jonny5's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
The thought of smoking a cig nowadays is so foreign and gross to me... there is not one single reason in this world that I would ever smoke again. Me and my cig? We will never ever never ever never ever get back together, just like Taylor Swift! :P Rain :) -
You are going thru what I call a fixation, not a crave... craves do end after a short time, but sometimes we become so fixated on the thought that we just won't let it go. This is when having a hobby comes in really useful. When I first quit smoking, I started doing a lot of cross-stitching and played a lot of WOW... it keeps your mind off the cig. :)

Oh damnit! I haven't been around the past few days because other things came up... I actually just went and found your profile so I could see where you posted last.... so here goes... Young man!!! This is why you need to carry a short list of reasons with you at all times, a list that reminds you why you want to be a non-smoker. This is why you need something else with you: seriously, carry those half-size plastic straws, pretend-smoke them. Do not use the fact that you don't have internet or a phone as an excuse to smoke. Plain and simple: that is junkie thinking at it's finest. I really don't want to sound harsh, but I am really pulling for you, my friend. Please please please listen to what I'm telling you because if you do, you will win this horrible god-awful battle. Rain aka Suz

Ladybug, I'm not sure if you're still having this problem, but I had the same thing happen to me. What I did to fix it: I quit Internet Explorer and started using Google Chrome, problem immediately solved. Hope this helps you. :)

Another positive for the Quit Train
Rain Forest replied to Jengelsnew1's topic in Introductions & About Us
I should prob'ly log in without the "anonymous" feature, maybe I will! I like being able to post here and not worry that someone is gonna become offended because I happened to "Like" something someone else said... I hate those mind games. Ok, being the ole hippie I am... what stood out to me in Jengels post was 4 20... lol -
Quitting smoking cigarettes cold turkey

The disgusting things smokers do!.....
Rain Forest replied to Ladybug's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
hahaha! I did that a few times while waiting for my hair to perm (you know: rollers in hair, solution on hair, plastic cap on head tied in front)... oh lord.... lol -
Melody, you'll be 5 months smoke-free very soon... and I love hearing how you're doing... it sounds like you've been doing a lot of worrying over nothing, huh? lol Don't let fear get to you... start embracing any craves that you think might be on the horizon... tell the ugly cig where it can go before it has a chance to even think... it will put you in the mind-set that you won't smoke no matter what. You're a winner!
-
Tiffany, have an awesome, smoke-free day!
-
Beth, you're my BFF and sister friend and you know it! Love you to pieces, and as I keep telling you: come on over, I truly believe you will love it here. :)

Once you first quit, there is NEVER going back
Rain Forest replied to IamDoingIt's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Iamdoingit, you ARE gonna win this time, I have that feeling just from reading what you write. It took me almost two years to decide that I was finally done. You are right, once you quit, it sucks when you relapse because you now know that you can't continue like this and live happily... it's a neverending battle until you've had enuf and you just look that ugly cig in the eye and let it know you're the boss now... besides, do you want COPD? I have very mild COPD (mild enuf that I don't need inhalers or medication)... this disease won't get any worse if I never smoke again but it is pretty much irreversible... so be strong and live long! :) This time around, have yourself a backup plan: something else to do when you crave: hard candy, sunflower seeds, flavored toothpicks, my cig-size plastic straws... keep a short list of why you want to be a non-smoker and pull it out and read it, remind yourself why you are now a non-smoker. Stay close to this forum, especially the first year. We are gonna get you thru the hard times because damnit, I, for one, am gonna make sure you don't relapse this time! Rain :)
