  1. The sugar thing was getting bananas! At night just binge eating: donuts, ice cream, candy, cookies, chocolate, etc. Sgt. - I don't know about the fructose...I'm just following my friend's recipe. It's too confusing for me to figure out so he's making my decisions for me!!! He sounds like he knows what he's talking about... :P Something about switching from glycosis to ketosis.
  2. Doing one. NO: Fructose Corn Syrup Cane Sugar Honey Agave Nectar Molasses Maple Sugar Dextrose Dextrin Maltodextrin Trying to get this done for two full weeks. Fruit and fruit juice is allowed. Wish me luck!!!
  3. One and a half!!! Heck yeah!
  4. For some reason I thought you already had YEARS...probably because you're always so humorously upbeat. Well done - your quit is a solid example.
  5. It's a decision to deteriorate.
  6. Next comic novel comes out in August right? I'm all caught up to book 11. I am CRAVING more - they can't produce them fast enough.
  7. Hur
  8. !!!!FIVE MONTHS IS AWESOME-O!!!!
  9. So true, so true. Think about time itself. I used to smoke about 15 ciggs a day (American Spirits which took about 8 minutes to smoke). (15 X 8) = 120 minutes. That's 2 HOURS every day of JUST SMOKING. Every time I calculate that I still don't believe it. IT'S CRAZY. You can do this Flo!!!!
  10. Ramona

    MIA no more

Congrats on one year!!!! Rockin' it.
  11. Hello there Jimmy!!! NOPE for me too.
  12. SPOT ON.
  13. Six months!!! That's excellent news. Keep checking off those months and breathe deeper. Run freer.
  14. I just had a smokers dream. They've been rare for me. But they haven't been rare for my boyfriend, who is just about to reach the 4 month mark. He dreams about smoking regularly. In my dream I smoked one and my mind started rationalizing, "all is not lost - you only smoked one - the key is to not smoke any more - don't panic." Ahahahaha - even in my dreams I'm in denial.
  15. My dog says, "Ruffing awesome!"
  16. One year is a solid accomplishment - you should be so proud of yourself. Treat yourself to something wonderful!
  17. Flok- Marti provided a GREAT list! One thing I did? I started an aquarium. It takes up time between the water changes, feedings, filter changes, observation of relationship/dynamics, and PH checks. It seems the morning hours present the greatest challenge. That's when the nicotine used to feel the strongest for us (after a night's sleep without a fix). Like Marti, I check out this forum and read/respond to posts. This keeps me focused on what I'm trying to accomplish and how I'm going to accomplish it. Welcome.
  18. NOPE
  19. "Holy Mackerel" - - I haven't heard that saying in FOREVER. Love it! !!CONGRATS EVELYN!! I don't know how you're doing so well in a smoky house - I give you major credit. Yesterday my Mom's tenet was chain smoking on the front patio and my fan was blowing it straight into my face. I was kind of grossed out! I turned the fan off but even then it felt too smoky so I left the room and took care of some other tasks instead of obsessing about it. Evelyn, like Marti, you have to succeed in the face of a smoky environment. How aggravating!!! But if you succeed, despite such an obnoxious challenge, you will succeed indefinitely. Keep on keeping on.
  20. Pippa! I did the same thing (and I thought I was one of the only ones). After completing a basketball practice (with suicides and endless other cardio drills) I would rush to my car and light up. And before games? I'd smoke as many as I could before I would be stuck in the bus and driving long distances. Actually, it took awhile to clear that trigger - the exercise trigger. Always a smoke was my reward for working out! WEIRD!
  21. Today I saw Jurassic World with my 10 year old niece and the experience illustrated the many blessings of being a non-smoker. 1) We drove in a smoke free car listening to music together...I didn't feel resentful that I couldn't smoke on the way or guilty because I gave in and smoked 2) I sat closely next to a stranger on my left and I didn't feel self-conscience that I was ruining her experience by my smoky smell. 3) My niece held my arm and put her head on my shoulder and I knew I smelled clean and healthy (not musky with stale smoke). 4) I was able to enjoy the entire movie without jonesing to get outside and smoke. 5) When the movie finished I took my niece to the bathroom because she needed to pee - I didn't resent her for this like I would have if I needed to get outside ASAP I'm so grateful for these developments. I want to be an example to the people in my life who feel trapped and burdened by this addiction. Quitting is POSSIBLE!!! A new life is possible. It's quite amazing and I feel blessed.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
