  1. It feels embarrassing to bring this up... but here goes... In the past few days when I'm busy doing something, out of the blue there's a strange inner feeling that it's smoke break time... And for a second it's like... my body and mind just tries to go back.. and it's like being in a TRANCE STATE OR BEING BODY AND MIND SNATCHED Maybe like being in a war, and you are wearing a red uniform and suddenly you know you should be in a blue uniform... Of course I shake it off... BUT THEN... Oh my gosh, this is embarrassing but then I FEEL SORRY FOR MYSELF FOR BEING AN ADDICT It's like being in a bad movie. The way I cope is I put on my big girl pants and think, "Hey, I'm in charge. Now soldiers, you can pee in your pants like wussies, but we are marching on..." But sometimes I just get in bed early and suck on my binky and drink ice water, and feel like a big baby. Soooooo embarrassing...
  2. I'm afraid of playing badly. Like, who's listening? It's SO stupid. I mean, was I "good" at smoking? So warped. This post inspires me. Thanks.
  3. Up to a point. I'm consuming the last of the Rocky Road tonight...then, that's it for awhile!!!
  4. Made MQ's recipe ~~~ chicken with lots of ginger root and pepper. It rocks. It was his cold medicine recipe for larks (who has man cold?) but I found it helps because I have a tight feeling in my lungs a lot (still a newbie)...thank goodness I've detached from the huge plates of pasta I was consuming first month of quit. Like your photo, babs. Doesn't look like you are consuming large plates of pasta! Thumbs up!
  5. LAUGHING LIKE A FOOL! Thanks. Will never again look at a chocolate bunny without bursting out laughing!
  6. Thanks for the update. I am running right behind you!
  7. Oh Lordie, must I say it??? The binky. (pacifier, dummy, and what do the Scots call it?) It has zero calories, and the only thing lost is a bit of dignity. This from the internet: "In the 1970's researchers dispelled the notion that pacifiers were psychologically unhealthy and aberrant." So there! Boom! Update: The pacifier is not a good idea except for the first few days when it's better than breaking down and smoking. My dangerous day was always Day 4, and the binky helped me past the hump. However, continued occasional use caused one of my front teeth to get loose so I threw away the binky. Time to grow up and get mint gum!
  8. Was out tending to horses today, and towards evening looked up into the hills and saw a BUNCH of coyotes. A lone coyote isn't cause for alarm, but a PACK of coyotes?...well, that made me nervous. I could fend off one or two. But these coyotes were staring me down and inching down the hillside, and I lost count of how many. The horses were watching me, I was alone out there...and well, just JEEPERS. They finally took off. And I thought, "I need a plan...for next time." I thought about how nope works...because it's the best plan ever. Killer cigarettes always travel in a pack.
  9. I have been reading more of your looooooooooooooong blog and history of smoking your history something like 1 year then relapse. 2 years relapse. 1 year more. relapse. so on. do you think you have finally broken back of this pattern? do you think nope is answer? (i think it is...) do you now have hardy hardy bully hardy hog hardy solid quit? (say yes) is teeny tiny nope the secret? (i think yes, but needs daily washing brain of other dirty thoughts and replacing with clean beautiful nope) just asking cuz soon 2 years rolling towards you i think... maybe 3....stupid and selfish to not have quit ticker cuz tickers inspires newbies I hate writing like this but your kind of French is the only kind of French you understand. Put on your big boy pants and write in full out American English some of the time.
  10. what exactly is a man cold - or - how does it differ from a woman cold? in my experience the worst colds ever are experienced by toddlers, who don't know how to use kleenix
  11. Made this and added new potatoes and onions and it's radically good...I don't have cold but sometimes chest feels tight. Thanks, MQ. PS There can never be too much ginger root in anything, I say.
  12. live 1,000's of miles from philly now (not ohio or texas) just busting your chops. :dirol: ~~ sports like war, all around cheating...
  13. My EA's being trained to go on Quit Train hunting for something to read...before I go out...to replace getting ready to go out smoke time. Thanks, my EA liked this.
  14. I have a ton of stuff to do, and many things don't get done. Frustrating. I must have fueled myself for years on tons of coffee and cigarettes. Hardest thing is adjusting to new energy level. Can't push myself like the old days. I'm sure all this will improve. Patience. Patience. Patience.
  15. don't have cold but this sounds good so am making for dinner with quinoa and broccoli. :)
  16. Half my people are from there, so I'm a fan, whatever that means...
  17. Congrats on making magic happen! :wizard:  :) ;) oh yeah! :dirol:
  18. Congrats! Enjoy wine, sniffles, song, not smoking. It's all so good. :pleasantry: :dirol: :music: :good3: :friends: :this: :whistle3:
  19. Thanks. This is like the No Contact rule with a bad relationship. Ha! :sarcastic_hand: Good one to remember! Guard the Quit. Always.
  20. What will I do today? There's a smorgesbord of things ... Because it's officially Spring and I don't have to think about not smoking every minute. This is real freedom. (The Secret) I don't have to white-knuckle it. Just apply light attention. Vigilant, but not heavy-handed. I have earned this freedom. But this day? ~~~ it's a gift. How many days I threw away to smoking ~~~ So many! (shameful) But not today. I feel happy. (Birds chirping) That's all. Easy-peasy. Happy Today to all.
  21. Some people (even when sick) are healthier than the rest of us.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
