  1. Wishing you peace......I certainly understand standing by helplessly....I was not my Brother's keeper....you are not your Mother's keeper.
  2. People make their own choices in life....we don't always agree but you will regret it one day if you don't see your mom because of choices she has made. I hated the choices my much loved, youngerr Bro made but I supported him until his death from lung cancer a year ago at age 55 yrs. And I miss him everyday....he lived HIS life. I quit smoking so that I may have a chance to avoid the horrible death he had. We all make choices. It is not our place to judge others. We can teach & we can ask....but we cannot force our new lifestyle onto those who don't want it. Blood is blood....no matter what we love those who are killing themselves with a terrible habit. Don't regret the future with those you love. Your decisions are for YOU. Hopefully no one will mourn your early demise. It's a fact of life my friend. Congratulations for not causing your family pain in the future. Congratulations on your strength, courage & defiance. You have said NOPE...not ever. xo
  3. There are many experienced people on this Forum, K! And lots of Newbies too. The education & assistance you will receive is key to a successful quit. We have to do the quitting work ourselves, but the support through each day & each different stage is so helpful. I can honestly say I am succeeding this Quit with NOPE & the QT members assistance to stay NOPE. Educate yourself, read & watch videos, read forums, blogs & anything you need. Everyone here has been there....they/we understand. Good luck & never be afraid to ask a question or make a comment....whining is even acceptable! Lol!
  4. Lol! But we are saying Nope always!!!

  15. Congratulations on your 6 yr Quit Anniversary!!! One day I will be there too
  16. Non smoker!!! We deserve that! Even people who smoked for a long time years ago are considered non smokers now!!! We have worked hard to achieve this status! Now let's enjoy the rest of our lives
  17. Unfortunately I reacted adversely to both medications my Doc tried to help with sleep so yet another medication has been discontinued. Heart related adverse affects were totally unexpected. I have had blood work done & hopefully the problem will be identified. In the meantime my Doc has just increased a med I am already taking & I am sleeping most nights now. Perhaps smoking was covering up or causing an unknown problem. Best to have Quit now.
  18. [quote name="cpk" post="141231" timestamp="1430856510 All was cool, I woke up in my pajamas. Lol! Too funny! Love it!

  21. Well said Jackie! And ALL true!
  22. Stress seems to be a trigger which immediately conjures up memories of how we used to be in our past smoking lives. I honestly believe that because we coped for so many years with a killer inhalation device called a cigarette that we did not learn good coping skills independent of that nasty device. Good feelings were triggered by a drug....a drug that managed to trick so many systems in our bodies into a false sense of wellbeing....but now we are forced to learn new ways of coping. Whether it be running, yoga, exercise, music or any other coping mechanism...we are learning healthy ways to teach us coping or chilling.....call it whatever but it still amounts to learning to live without the drug & the delivery device that we finally realized was slowly killing us. We chose to Quit & to live. I know your Quit is secure CPK. We KNOW our Quits are secure but we are still going to journey through some bumps in the road which are made more difficult by our learning to walk again....without that drug to give us a false sense of security. We will soon be running! But it all takes time. We have QUIT SMOKING people!! We rock because we are strong! We will learn to chill, to cope, to deal with the stressors in our life in a healthy, positive way. It just takes time! Markus once said to me as I was struggling through my own withdrawal problems that he had noticed & admired the strength he was seeing on the train....he said.we may bend but we don't break! Markus is SO wise & I love those words. Thank you Markus!
  23. Hi Marie! Do you have another safeguard in place to deal with stress other than smoking? It seems that your own difficulty dealing with stress blew your quit if I remember correctly. I had to learn new ways of coping with stress. I chew gum & it helps but others have helpful suggestions. Stress is a trigger and we all thought smoking helped us deal with stress....it didn't really except in our minds. Markus has given you solid advice as have the others. Welcome back!
  24. Enjoy life! You can enjoy life as a non smoker....likely more than as a smoker as time moves on. Wishing you happiness
  25. Good job Ev! You are a Winner!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
