  1. Thank you so muuch Marti.
  2. Thanks New Identity. I appreciate your advice. This is the first time I have ever had to wean off one....have been on same one for years. years. It sure threw me off badly. But I think things are starting to settle down...sure wish I didn't have to take these meds. They are potent & can cause both good & bad results during the adjustment phase as I am sure you are aware. But I am feeling better....just takes time.
  3. I did not even want to admit on QT that I had a relapse for a few days. Just reading Everyone's posts makes me realize I did the right thing by admitting to it. No way do I want to go through what I did initially when quitting. Beacon is right...do not reestablish old habits. Stop now. I know I can do this. I am officially back on the train. Saying this helps me to do it. Thanks for your advice. I have NONE of the cancer sticks in the house again. ✌ I CAN SAY NOPE.
  4. Bacon they taste awful. No I don't want to lick windows. I want to get past this & Quit...forever. NOPE.
  5. Okay & thank you! I will get right back on the train....relieved I still have a seat. I WANT to be a non smoker. I do NOT want to go back. It is reassuring to hear others have been successful after a slip....I need to move on forward Beacon.
  6. Awesome CPK!!!
  7. I am very disappointed in myself. I had a relapse. My Doctor weaned me off an antidepressant to start a new one and I got totally messed up. Blew an over 5 month Quit. I know....no excuses. I will let you know my new start date once I know I have accomplished getting back on the train for good. I need to get this new medication working properly first.
  8. Welcome! I'm not going to say it's not hard work to keep a Quit....it is....but we all try to practice healthy lifestyle choices as far as eating, exercise & prevention of developing diabetes & other common conditions. We avoid foods or contagious illnesses that can make us sick. No one likes being sick or feeling unwell. Smoking is one of those insidious bad things that creeps up slowly to make us ill. Quitting is helping us to preserve our health & lifestyle. It's a good choice to say NOPE. Good for you to make this decision to quit for good. You do the work but we will support you every inch of the way
  9. I bought some new clothes for my slight weight gain...12 lbs which makes my regular clothes just a bit snug! But I was careful to buy clothes I can still wear when that weight comes back off! Lol!
  10. For me smoking gave me "time out". Unfortunately it wasn't always at good times & I would have to hide to feed my addiction. There is nothing to stop you from continuing to take "time outs". Go outside for a short walk, pick some weeds out of the garden, just go out & enjoy some peace of mind. Smoking is not necessary to enjoy time outs or doing something outdoors. I used to get the sarcastic comment "going out for a breath of fresh air? Now you can really go out for a breath of fresh air & fill your lungs with deep, soothing breaths....smoke free! Very relaxing
  11. Very happy to hear from you Toni. You have been through such a tough time....my heart goes out to you. Losing a sibling is so hard....I understand. Congrats on keeping your quit through so much emotional upheaval. You are taking care of yourself. So glad that you are. Cyber hugs ((((())))))
  12. Good job Nixter! It really is lovely to smell good! You go girl.
  13. Shaun of course we are here for you. I am very sorry you are going through a rough time. It is very unfortunate that your Quit Day did not work out. It sounds more like you quit your father rather than smoking. There are things in life we wish so much we could change but we can't change other people. We can only change ourselves. Parental relationships are very complicated. We grow up wanting our parents' approval and even as adults this is a stressor in cases such as yours. Have you been to Counselling to talk this through? Quitting smoking is for YOU and will empower you to live a different life than the addictive life of your father. But it will not change your relationship with him. It's hard to forget the past but it's harder to keep re-living it. I totally understand a poor relationship with a parent....it is so hurtful & disappointing but if YOU allow the repetition to continue YOU are responsible for your unhappiness. Let it go. Look after YOU. Achieve a Quit as this is something you badly want to succeed at. Distance yourself from a situation you can't fix....at least until you realize you can't fix it and it certainly can't fix you....approval from your alcoholic father is unlikely & trying to gain this wastes your time, energy & emotional well being. You will need to come to terms with this shaun. Professional help plus good choices on your own will help YOU. Time to do what YOU want to do. I hope you are successful in your Quit & we are here to help, support & offer hope. You have to do the work.
  14. Welcome back Michelle. If this was easy people would quit with no problem at all. It's not easy. As Markus once said to me "you may bend but you don't break". I remember those words when the temptations are nasty. Smobriety. You can do this too!
  15. Happy Birthday Nancy!
  16. Shopped!! Walked & walked! Lol!
  17. Cyber hugs to you Bonnie. My thoughts are with you at such a scary time. Think positive thoughts. You ALL need that right now and Hope is what gets us through the toughest of times. I hppe you will keep us updated. You have our support for yourself & positive thoughts for your daughter. Xx
  18. I am so glad to hear from you & of course I asked....I care. You are such a good person to pull yourself together to do what you have to do. Cyber hugs to you. You are a strong person xx
  19. So true....I too quit many times. But at some point you have to stop making excuses & just DO IT. It's not easy. It's hard work. And you need to find a way to stimulate endorphins that is healthy. But if you really want it, you do it.
  20. How are you Tracey? You have been through such a sad & emotional time. My thoughts are with you. Hugs xx
  21. You are right Bakon. I would rather have the CURVES than the stink. I would rather be able to move & breathe. I would rather accomplish what you have. That will take time but I'm going to do it. I'm very stubborn. And I WILL move
  22. Marti you are here! Always great advice too!
  23. Lol! Gotcha...and I am SO glad just a little easier could begin. Thank you for that very welcome comment!
  24. Why Bacon? I want to prevent ANY downhill slides! Knowledge is prevention. Clue me in....please!
  25. Laura forget the dieting for now. I have gained about 12 lbs & have never been on a diet in my life but I knew I was going to gain & I knew I would not be able to do anything about it initially. I bought new pants instead lol! My treat to me was not squishing into tight pants! Anyway, eating healthy will help....exercise where we can manage it is very helpful....but not smoking is the number one goal here ☺

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
