  1. Great post and so very true!
  2. My plan is to smoke my last cigarette tonight before bed. If there are cigarettes left (I seriously doubt there will be), they will be destroyed. Tomorrow will be completely smoke free. There will be no cigarettes around. Instead of getting up and grabbing a cup of coffee and heading to the garage to smoke. I plan on getting up and eating breakfast. I'm still not sure about the coffee. I may have water instead, but I do know I need to cut my coffee down. Half the battle is just making the commitment. I owe Amy for finally letting myself commit and write it down. There's no going back. On edit: I never did say the method. Cold Turkey. I don't like medicines. I'm not going to vape, it just keeps the nicotine around. I'm just walking away from the little tubes stuffed with dried insecticide, and I'm never looking back. I am a nicotine addict. I have been for years, and I will be for the rest of my life. The only way over an addiction is to NEVER, EVER, EVER have another dose.
  3. Well, tomorrow will finally come for me! I have committed to 4/9/2014. (I hope Amy is still around and still committed.) As with most smokers, I am a little apprehensive, a little excited, a little scared, somewhat frighten, a touch thrilled. My past quits failed because I didn't stay in the boards and write my thoughts and feelings down. I'm warning you guys, you may get a LOT of posts coming from me in the next several days. I know how smoking works, and I know how quitting works. What could be simpler than NOT doing something? Bear with me, please!
  4. Breaking Bad is a great show! Netflix has all episodes start to finish. It's nice that they ended it. It never Jumped the Shark. (edited for spelling)
  5. I am patiently waiting for season 4 to get on Netflix, also. I'm a Daryl fan!!!!!! My son has cable and has already watched season 4. I am so jealous!!!!!
  6. Hi Rachael!!!! Such an awesome decision!!!!!!!! I wish I had stopped at your age. I am now 50. Let's just go over the past 20 years: years for me: Cigarettes used 219,147 Packs bought 10,958 Cost Per Cigarette $0.297 Cigarette Cost $65,196.23 You have made the RIGHT DECISION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How awesome are you?!??!?!?!?!
  7. It's rather ironic...... When I last had a long term quit, I created http://www.quitmeterfree.com. I wanted to see my stats the way I wanted. (NO this is not a promotion for the site.) I loved watching the time and cigarettes NOT smoke go up. It took me several months to finish the site, and do you know what I did when it was finished? I lit up. I rewarded myself. How terribly stupid can I be? I rewarded myself with chaining myself back to this terrible addiction that I had broken free of. Well, my mind is finally right. I will conquer this addiction. I will crawl to hell and back on my knees to free myself from this addiction!
  8. Hello All! My quit journey started 01/04/2012 at 4 PM. On that quit, it was quite easy. I put down the cigarettes and walked away from them for three entire months. During that time I felt the best I have in YEARS! I felt wonderful, and I felt fantastic! Then, stupid me listened to that inner voice........'Just one puff'. Well, like an idiot, I did that just one puff, but it wasn't just 1 or 10 or 1000 or 10000. It's been so many puffs, I don't even want to think about them. My inner voice doesn't want me to think about them. Since I first quit, I have had quit from 5 months to 5 days, but neve the sticky quit. It's now time. I have been ashamed to join any message boards, but I do know I need a place to put my words. So, here I am. I am not free from nicotine. I saw a post from Amy saying Wednesday is her quit date. I like that date. That is now my quit date. I may smoke anywhere from 0 to 100 cigarettes between now and then. Zero would be optimal. However, I do know Wednesday 4/9/2014 will be smoke free. Thank you Amy for making me commit to a date. Tomorrow never comes, but Wednesday 4/9/2014 WILL come!
  9. Hi Amy. How would you like a quit buddy? I've been lurking on the board for a while. It's time I quit, too.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
