  1. well, tomorrow evening will be two weeks. I don't feel miserable at all. in fact I don't feel any difference. I feel like I should suffer more, but honestly i'm not having cravings and rarely think about it. everyone says quitting is so hard, but that hasn't been my experience. I had planned to clean my home and do other domestic projects to keep busy, but I haven't done any of that. I am working out more, but that's about the only thing i'm doing differently. oh, and the jigsaw puzzles. I think they're my new addiction. I really do need to kick the wheat habit, though. the more research I do, the more I realize that wheat is nearly as dangerous as tobacco. and tougher to kick. so that's my new goal. it well probably be tougher. wish me luck.
  2. I couldn't drive home from work yesterday due to the snow. so I walked three miles to the bus stop, then another mile home. I also shoveled snow and walked another couple of miles at work. this morning i'll do a mile to the bus stop, then the three miles to the office. I did 20 minutes of the nycb workout this morning. does anyone know of knee-saving exercises? I don't want to blow out my knees again.
  3. hi, oneistoo. someone else asked about the colt. that's smarty jones, the ky derby/Preakness winner from 2004. he's in my top ten thoroughbreds list! while i'm sorry you have sleep issues, it's good to know i'm not alone!
  4. hi, everyone. still having a hard time sleeping. but I got one article done and I have an interview for the second one this evening. I got some jigsaw puzzles, which are a godsend. and i'm working out at least twice daily. I hope to be wheat-free by the end of this week.
  5. 20 minute workout (NYCB, as usual), 1 1/2 hour snow shoveling, then a 20-minute walk. I plan on doing the workout again this evening. once I get some writing done.
  6. well, I give up. how do I attach an article i'd like to share? I've tried every typical method I've ever used and nothing seems to work here. what am I missing?
  7. good morning, everyone. so far, so good. except that I can't sleep. but I keep working out and restricting calories. we have a winter storm headed our way. again. so i'll be stuck indoors. which is ok. I have two articles to work on and I plan to get some jigsaw puzzles. I think they'll help keep me occupied when I take a break from writing. thanks for everyone's support!
  8. devil doll: no. that's 2004 ky derby winner smarty jones. I wish he were mine! i'd love to just see him at least once. thanks for everyone's ideas and feedback. i'm kind of obsessive about weight. i'm really afraid of gaining and i'm actually hoping to lose some. i'd always have a cigarette after eating. so I find that i'm eating less to avoid that craving. but I still have to restrict calories and move constantly.
  9. I've done about nine minutes of in-place jogging, countless plies in first, second and fourth, some graham stuff, toe touches, knee lifts and more plies. probably about 30 minutes thus far. i'll do more this evening.
  10. I used to suck on licorice roots back when I worked as an herbalist. it turned me off licorice for good! I use some detox herbs and I love detox baths. I stayed home from work today and I've done about 10 minutes of my workout so far. I feel like a perpetual motion machine. maybe I've become an exercise addict.
  11. good morning. I appreciate the existence of your site and plan to use it pretty heavily within the next few weeks. I quit sunday night. so this is day three. weight gain is my biggest fear, so I've gone wheat-free and sugar-free. I do the n.y city ballet workout for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening. any other suggestions? I do plenty of water, green vegetables and fresh fruit. again, thanks.
