  1. Mmmmm. Yes, we have Ritz! Are you as shocked as I am to find out what an actual 'serving' of cheese is?? I'm like Colleen....a cheese lover! But how in hell is a serving only the size of two fingers??
  2. Bakon, we silly Canadians call everything 'holidays'. Summer vacation= holidays. Christmas = holidays Ground hog day= holidays
  3. It's my day off! Woot woot, I'm here
  4. 2 Hiya Joe.
  5. Becca....I can't give up the cream....yet. I'm getting there though. I only have one coffee (in the morning) and the rest of the day I drink water. But soon I think....I'll want to trade my 4 tablespoons (80 calories) of cream for something of more substance and nutritional value. Man....that's a whole egg! Or an apple! Or 2 plums! Yup.....soon it will be black tea for breakfast and coffee with cream will be a treat.
  6. Mastergardener! That was me! You just described me! My whole life, I was that girl.....you know, the skinny one who you'd see eating extea large fries. For a snack! I ate entire bags of chips before bed! I'd think nothing of polishing off a bag of candy or a half dozen cookies. Now..... Wow, what a learning curve! I DO like a measurable challenge though. I'm a competitive spirit.....and just like nicotine, fat is not going to win. I ate beets. They were actually pretty good. Not like Oreo cookie good....but better than brussel sprout good. I'm getting pretty creative with 300-400 calorie meals....trying to pack all I can into so few calories, and trying to make them the healthiest, best tasting calories

  8. This year, we are starting "Elf on a Shekf" for Maverick. He's a little elf that plants himself around the house to make sure kids are behaving. He reports directly to Santa. The problem is, when kids are sleeping, elf gets himself into trouble.
  9. Oh folks with resentments.....please...please see the plus side. Your fight to end your relationship with nicotine Helped me end my relationship with nicotine And in turn Probably ensured a healthier life for me And my family. I owe you all my life, quite literally! Don't be resentful. Instead be proud that you fought back And inspired me to do the same.
  10. I knew I had COMPLETELY banished any thoughts of smoking again when I pulled my winter coat out, put it on (it reeked of stale smoke even though it had been to the dry cleaners) and I found a lighter in my pocket. The only feeling I had was a twinge of sadness for that girl who was addicted. The girl who stood outside in snowstorms to get her fix. The girl who almost had a seizure if she couldn't find a lighter. The coat got donated to charity. The lighter got thrown in the junk drawer for the bbq. And I ordered a new Canada Goose coat! :)
  11. Doreen! I'm so excited for you! Yoga isn't just good for the body, it's good for your mind and spirit too! I tried hot yoga (Bikram) Yoga done in a room heated to the temperature of hell. I loved it! However, yoga classes here are so expensive. I can't justify 30$/class. Not when I could get a gym membership for a monthly fee of $25. Maybe I should do yoga at home.......
  12. 1200-1400 calories a day is hard......when I'm used to absentmindedly shoving anything in my mouth. It's a good thing I enjoy healthy foods like veggies, fruit, whole grains because if I didnt, trying to plan a meal would be torture. I got myself a Fitbit. Cool little gadget that sycs up with my phone, and counts my steps, my active exersize, can track my food choices, water intake, even track sleep. So far, it's inspiring! That dumb little gadget that I clip to my bra isn't going to tell me I'm lazy!! No no no! I'm making sure I get my 10k steps in. Even if I have to do laps around my kitchen island while I put away supper dishes. I've lost 3 pounds. I hope. It better not be a joke and show up on the scale again tomorrow. I was at 155lbs. Now I'm 152lbs. My pre-quit weight was 127lbs. I don't care what the number on the scale says, I just want my clothes to fit me.....so that's probably around 135lbs I've never in my life had to make good food choices, or decisions like "hmm, if you have that pat of butter Julie, no cream in your coffee". Pfft. It's a challenge.
  13. Exactly...... Do you know how hard it is to find overalls??
  14. Mmmmm. I make a casserole for Christmas breakfast, and it's the only day of the year I will make it....so it stays special. Praline pecan french toast casserole. It has about 4700 calories just from licking the fork.

  18. -4 I have high hopes your contractor will show up. If you want him to. If not....then I have high hopes that he wont :)
  19. I havent found my outfit yet. Everyone knows the outfit is the most important part.
  20. Ya!!! What she said!!
  21. MissLovelyDental.......you cant compare your quit to anyone elses quit. Everyone's body is different. Everyone's psyche is different. If you want a fair comparison.....compare You to YOU. Months ago, you were a stinky smoker. Now youre not. :D In the beginning, out of a 24hr period, betcha you had 23hrs of uncomfortable nonsense. How many moments now? Really.....real uncomfortable moments? Betcha its not what it was during that hell week. :D Ask yourself honestly "How often am I nurturing the smoking/not smoking thought?" Rather than getting busy and doing something different/better/more productive?
  22. Oh dear. Look at my poor ticker. Someone chopped off the end of the words on the right hand side. Poor lil'ticker.
  23. Ah, and a tip, for what its worth (it worked for me) Anytime a smoking/not smoking thought popped into my head, I trained myself to say "No Julie, you dont do that anymore." Then (this part was important) I got busy. I cleaned a junk drawer. I read a book. I played games online. I picked a fight with my hubby. I bought new shoes. I baked. Oh boy did I bake!. I simply refused to allow myself the time to nourish the smoking thought. An active, busy mind has less room for smoking thoughts.
  24. Ah yes......the either thinking of smoking, thinking of not smoking, thinking of others smoking, seeing people on tv smoking........ I remember. :) This will pass. I swear. Honest. Soon.....very soon.....you will look at smokers in passing only and turn your nose up a bit because they stink. You will suddenly think "Hey!! I havent thought about smoking since....since.....well, a long time!" Days will pass.....then weeks..... Soon....soon....you will look at yourself in the mirror and you wont be able to believe you ever smoked in the first place.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
