  1. LOL!!! We need this choice in the pole. I change my vote!
  2. A friend of mine has a similar saying: If you dont like the roller coaster, stop standing in line and buying a ticket for it :p
  3. Feelings are temporary. It was always so natural for me, to look outside of myself for a substance to 'fix' a feeling. Or enhance it. Or get rid of it. Feelings are temporary kiddo....it will pass, just like the crave :) You are not a failure. Every step you took brought you to where you are right now. You can do this. NOPE

  8. Umm, you are awesome. You know that....right? Because you are. :)
  9. Stop Waiting Author: Unknown. Last sentence: Mine So stop waiting until you finish school, until you go back to school, until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter, until you are off welfare, until the first or fifteenth, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink, until you've sobered up, until you die, until you are born again to decide that there is no better time than right now to quit smoking.
  10. Sometimes, I go into that store just to stand around and take in all the scents. The sales girls sashay over, trying to sell me their expensive goods and I say "No no....Im just here for the free smells. There isnt a time limit, is there?" When they tell me I can stay as long as I like, I smile, whip out my yoga mat and spread it out on the floor. They arent quite sure what to do with me...... Ok. Im kidding. But jeeez, that store smells good. And I do go in to just hang around and smell stuff :)
  11. Welcome Shaddycat. :)
  12. Evelyn, have your written your own SOS reply on Jonny's thread? It can be a really positive experience :)
  13. Good morning :) Im thinking of you two and sending you both high-fives!!
  14. When an addict is faced with losing a partner in crime, it often causes them to have a wee look at themselves and their own addiction. My neighbor Calvin was my favorite smoking buddy. Almost daily, we would meet up on one of our porches with a coffee, share our day stories, and smoke our heads off. The first few weeks was awkward and weird.......I needed to protect my quit like a newborn baby, my quit felt fragile and tender at that point, so I simply explained to Calvin that "everything is temporary" and I would join him as soon as I felt a little stronger in my quit. He's my friend, so he understood, even though he himself is an addict and didnt want to be a lonely addict. The first few times I went back to hanging on the porch with Calvin, it was hard for me to stay completely focused on conversation.......my mind would drift to his cigarette, I would watch him smoke it, watch him fiddle with his lighter.......but now, 10 weeks in, I just think its stinky and sad. You do whatever you need to do to protect your quit! Limiting your time with smokers does not make you weak, it does not make your quit weak.........it means you care enough about yourself and your quit to do whatever is necessary to ensure your success.
  15. I need some self-restraint. Its only 10am, here and Ive already used up my daily reward. I ordered a bunch of scentsy wax online. Its Ava's fault. :p

  20. Huh. I wish I had read this before my Home Depot incident......
  21. I think its Aine that has a thread going on "rewarding ourselves" Considering how much money I spent damaging myself by smoking, rewarding myself occasionally should be a guilt free adventure :) I love hearing how others reward themselves.......sometimes its a big as saving all their quit smoking money and taking a vacation, sometimes its as small as new types of food that now taste so good. :)
  22. Nope! Smoking is not an option.
  23. I love Bonnie's idea......thankyou for bringing it here Nancy so it didnt get overlooked. :) It just seems so appropriate! New home, new names.....train.....I just love it :)
  24. Don’t let tobacco companies make the choices for you… they care about their own well-being, not yours

  25. American/Canadian/UK Netflix differs in its content. (My neighbor uses an American IP addy so he can access the much larger American library). But can any of you get the movie Love Song For Bobby Long with John Travolta? I have it on dvd.......i just love that movie :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
