  1. This is what google told me: Breakfast (Desayuno) fruit cocktail, maybe with a little yogurt and honey drizzled on top, with granola sprinkled over it. tamales, often in a bun called a bolillo, with atole, a hot drink made from milk and corn starch, usually chocolate, or rice with cinnamon, although comes in caramel, strawberry, guava, and a whole lot of other flavors breakfast cereal. scrambled eggs with refried beans mixed in. quesadillas, of cheese, of mushrooms, of whatever- the list is very long Lunch. (Comida) Usually with agua de sabor (water flavored with fruit) like lemon, pineapple, jamaica (habiscus flowers boiled and strained), melon, watermelon - or pop - or beer depending on where you eat most often a choice of chicken soup (caldo de pollo) or some other kind of soup (tortilla soup, cream of carrot, cream of asparragus, etc.) followed by a small plate of rice often served with fried egg or fried banana, OR, spaghetti with sour cream THEN, the guisado, most commonly breaded meat, regular meat (flattened) or chicken breast served with some beans and a little salad, but also may include enchiladas, pozole, chiles rellenos, avacado stuffed with tuna, fried fish, or spinach with cheese inside, coated in a light batter and served with a light tomato sauce. Dessert is often arroz con leche (rice pudding), ate (a fruit compote), a small serving of cheap icecream, or banana slices with cream and sugar. (the steps aren't as distinct if you eat at home, and maybe dessert will just be a twinky or donut from the store) Dinner (eaten in the mid/late evening) cereal, quesadillas, fruit, a ham and cheese sandwich, tamales -usually nothing heavy
  2. While reading through another thread, I noticed that jaja had an idea to light a candle for Mrs. Bakon tomorrow and send well wishes and prayers in the hopes that she will sail through her second chemo treatment. I thought we could start a well wishes Mrs Bakon thread :) Post a thought, a prayer, a poem, a picture......anything you like. Mr. and Mrs Bakon: You have a collection of random/strange/funny/goofy/well-meaning non-smokers gathered together on the internet. And for what its worth......we are walking beside you guys, cheering you on.
  3. Have you taken the opportunity to enjoy some of this fine weather by driving around town, windows down, looking for smokers to yell at? Always makes me feel better :p
  4. Jaja, I love this idea. :) In such a short period of time, I have grown especially fond on Bakon......and I find myself thinking of Mrs. Bakon from time to time. How sweet is it that random folks on the internet are cheering her on, sending her well wishes and prayers! So...tomorrow, I too will light a candle for Mrs. Bakon :) And I will eat a BLT for breakfast in Bakon's honor as he supports Mrs. Bakon with all his wonderful husbandly strength. As for KoolPants......that was before my time. But a member or two did send me a cartoon to explain some of the history........ I guess if it was before my time, its difficult for me to understand. ~shrug~
  5. Im laughing so hard! I was thinking ham..... but I wonder what Cristobal would do if he arrived here and we started calling him Pork Roll. Teeheeeeee.
  6. Please dont get me wrong....I do NOT advocate smoking for anyone, I really dont. That being said.....nicotine is a stimulant, you have said that you have other issues going on that need to be both supervised and possibly medicated, Im not sure that going cold turkey without medical supervision is a great plan. At least not in this moment. None of us here are doctors, we dont know or fully understand your particular set of circumstances......... Is it possible to give the doctor a ring on the telephone and describe what you have been feeling the last little while, describe how you have been using patches, your withdrawal from valerian, the wait for an anti-depressant.....and talk about your new plan to quit cold turkey? Proffessional advise should never be substituted for advise from well meaning folks like us on the internet.
  7. Evelyn, my doctor was one of my greatest champion's when I decided to quit. Have you had an appointment with him/her to discuss all the different options that might be available to you?
  8. I was kinda wondering if he was deliberating on a new name........ We have a Sausage and a Bakon.......what about the other breakfast meat??
  9. I know it's not a 'traditional' milestone for you.....I just wanted to say that: Wherever you are, whatever day you are on, I think you are doing just great! You, m'dear, are a non-smoker! :) Congrats!
  10. NOPE. Not under any circumstances.
  11. In some circles I frequent, there is a saying "Half measures will avail us nothing......" I figured I couldnt expect to do this thing halfheartedly. If I was going to try and quit, I was going to need to give it my all, otherwise I was setting myself up to fail.......and what a stinking waste of time and energy that would be. All in....or all out. No half measures.
  12. Welcome to our lovely little (yet growing by leaps and bounds) corner of the internet.
  13. Hi Becky. Welcome in advance. Please dont let the collection of breakfast meats worry you.......they are harmless :)
  14. Woot Woot Jimmy! Look good, you non-smoker! :)
  15. Sooz rocks :)

  17. One thousand Americans stop smoking every day — by dying. ~Author Unknown

  18. There was a domino-effect-thing that was going on that led up to my quit. -Hubby quit smoking. He was my final smoking buddy in the family. (I was so mad. Not supportive at all. I was a selfish, addicted beeotch) :( -My lifelong best friend died.....as a direct result of smoking. The cancer did things to her beautiful face that would make you cry and possibly vomit if I described in detail. :( -Then....the happy reason.......my first grandbaby was born :) I didnt ever want him to know me as the grandma who smelled like an ashtray. Or the sick grandma. Or the grandma who couldnt run, or was on oxygen. Nope.....he will never know a smoking grandma.
  19. Bhahahahaha. No need to see my practice video.......look way up in this thread to the second or third post. I look like that. Exactly like that. But Im drinking milk.......and someday.......:p
  20. I hope to see you as soon as you want to quit more than you want to smoke.
  21. Hey!! Sarge Sausage is back!! Now I'll be humming that tune and grinning all afternoon.
  22. Today is just a paperwork catch-up day, red tape gov. nonsense......I'm back for good on the 28th And I'll be packing a lunch!! A bag of chips and a granola bar from the vending machine is a sucky lunch. I want turkey and cheese on a croissant. :p

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
