Thats because Canadians do not own guns, organize protests, or hold lynchings. When we are angry, we make a phone call or write a sternly worded letter. :p

Ive used this one too, its an oven recipe. Ive gotten some really great recipes from this site: http://www.mennonitegirlscancook.ca/ Ribs must be on the menu in a few of our kitchens this week. Judy posted a delicious looking rib recipe this past week as well. Here is another melt in your mouth rib recipe. I often add 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into 2-3 pieces each to the pan during the last hour of cooking. This is so simple, but I guarantee they are so tender. You can easily half or double this recipe. 3-4 pounds pork back ribs (cut into 3-4 rib sections) 1 500ml bottle BBQ sauce (I like to use Bulls Eye regular) 3/4 cup orange juice 1/4 cup minced onion (optional) Place ribs in a 9x13 foil lined pan Stir together remaining ingredients and pour over ribs. Cover with foil and bake in 300 oven for 2 1/2 -3 hours. (baste once or twice) Turn heat up to 350 and remove foil. If there is allot of grease at this point spoon some of it off, but don't take out any of the BBQ sauce. **if you are adding chicken to the pan add it now and place the pieces around the outsides of the pan around the ribs*** Continue to bake for 1 hour. Baste half way through. If meat is getting too dark cover loosely with foil for last 20 minutes. Some good sides: baked beans, coleslaw, fries, cornbread.

In other words, begin where you are. But begin. Please stop waiting. Sometimes delay can have very serious consequences. As an addict I wanted the parade, the grand announcement, the regal launch, the ceremonial countdown, the press conference, the complete preparation with the guarantee of success before I thought I could start......before I could visualize what starting even looked like. Working through these things, waiting to make them happen, burns through precious time. And it is a trick.....a trick that addiction plays to keep us enslaved. Begin where you are, but begin. If all you can do is crawl, start crawling. One moment at a time, if you don't pick up that cigarette you'll be up and dancing eventually. (Though at first, most of us tend to complain about the music a bit till we find our own rhythm, but that's okay too. It's just a mask for our fear of being judged for how we dance. Stay on the dance floor and that will fall away.)

Susana! Hello lovely :) Does Day 5 mean you are Day 5 smoke free? (I want to be able to cheer for you at the end of hell week) :) -
Ribs are serious business around here too :) We have a festival that travels all over Ontario throughout the summer http://www.canadaslargestribfest.com/ Here is a recipe I most often use Baby Back Ribs 2 whole side baby back pork ribs approximately 3 lbs. each Basting Sauce ½ cup honey Juice and zest of 4 lemons 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 tablespoon soy sauce ¼ cup unsalted butter 1 teaspoon dried chilli flakes Salt and pepper to taste DIRECTIONS Baby Back Ribs 1. Remove membrane from the back of the ribs using kitchen pliers. 2. Place a drip pan under the barbeque grates that are turned off. Preheat barbeque to low indirect heat 220°F (105°C) by turning on 1 burner and leaving 2 burners turned off. 3. Brush the ribs generously with the honey garlic glaze on both sides. 4. Place the ribs on the grill and close barbeque lid. Cook for 2.5-3 hours, basting every 20 minutes with sauce. 5. Ribs are done when you can tug a bone and it pulls away with ease. Remove ribs from grill. Cover loosely with foil and let rest for 15 minutes. 6. Cut between each of the bones and serve. Basting Sauce 1. In a small pot, combine all the basting ingredients. Set the pot over medium low heat and cook until the butter has melted. Remove from heat and reserve.

Unexpected Benefits Of Quitting...What Were Yours?
Soberjulie replied to Colleen's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
I know this is going to sound stupid. The question was about "unexpected benefits" ......and some people's top reasons for quitting was the financial cost. I seriously never considered how much $10.50 could add up. These days, I have handfuls of change in my pockets, my purse, the cup holder in my car. And get this: it stays there! For days...weeks even!! Plus, here in Canada we don't have paper bills for $1 and $2 we have coins so "change" can really add up. I probably have $30 in my car cup holder that never would have been there if I was smoking. Every single time my 16yr old has asked me for money in the last 2 months, I've had it. Now.....I think I'll go clean out my cup holder and pockets and buy a treat :) -
Your account must be acting wonky. Did you try logging out then in again? Failing that, start a thread addressed to MQ that he will see :)

MMmmmmmmm, I love milk. And not that watered down version of milk they call skim. No no...I like full fat milk , it has 3.25% milk fat here. You can also buy 2%, 1% or skim. Yum.....I drink about 4 glasses a day :)

Tiff, I think you should get Carlos a friend. :) Yes, another goat. Goats are herd animals and tend to do better if they have a friend. :)

Under what circumstances would you smoke again?
Soberjulie replied to Jonny5's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
I can honestly think of one or two circumstances in which I might smoke again. :( Not very plausible circumstances (I hope) but just the same...... I know. Terrible, isnt it? But.....Im only 10 or 11 weeks into my quit. At 10 or 11 weeks into my quit of other substances I was still pretty messed up too :p Im walking forwards......they might be baby steps, but they are in the right direction. -
I too have recently become aware of how selfish and self-centered I was while smoking. No concern for others and I would turn my nose up at people who complained. :(
-
So flipping cute. I adore goats. They are the most ridiculous animals ever. And an endless source of entertainment. Be careful though, they can eat a motorcycle when you aren't watching :p
-
And....there goes my coffee..... Bhahahahaaaa

Welcome to blogging Jimmy, my friend :) How sweet and very much in your nature to make your first post about the gratitude you have for others. You are a non-smoking gem! So glad you are driving our QT bus :)

Large pasta shells stuffed with a mixture of ricotta cheese, spinach and mushrooms. Topped with a cream sauce and seasoned bread crumbs and baked. So yum, but messy and time consuming to make so we don't have it often. Will have mixed green salad and italian bread on the side :)

"noodly appendage"?? I'm dying over here.

My message: Dear Mrs Bakon, A month or two ago I saw a post on a quit smoking forum that Mr Bakon had made, something about urging other women to 'check the boobies'. ;) I am 43 years old.....my doctor recommended a baseline mammogram at age 40 and I put it off out of fear. After following the bits of your story that Mr. Bakon posts, I booked my mammogram. Im still scared its going to hurt. But my appointment is next week. I will wear a pink scarf to it......and I will think of you and Mr Bakon. So I wanted to say thank you. Because Ive been exposed to a few breast cancer stories.....but never had the urge to just go get that damned mammogram. But something about the way Mr Bakon expresses himself.....his love for you......well, it made me think of things from my husbands perspective. So, again....thank you.

Self-medicating is not the answer, and can actually be dangerous. Please Evelyn, dont play with your health.......have a check in with your doctor, either by phone or in person before you make any decisions in regards to starting/stopping any chemicals you have been putting in your system, including nicotine. Some of your posts over the last while have been worrisome and (at least for me) indicate that most of us here (unless there are Dr's and psychiatrists among us) are ill equipped to be giving you advice. Vent if you need, enjoy the friendships that are to be had here......but PLEASE do not substitute medical and professional help for what can be found here. Stay safe lovely.
