I totally fell off the earth. My apologies for being a bad forum contributor.....but I think (?) that is what happens with some of us in our journey. Hubby and I travelled to the Caribbean over the winter, sunned our job-smoking selves and enjoyed the salt air in our clean lungs!

Good stuff:) You should be proud. You are a non-smoker.

But STOP overthinking this. Simply STOP giving those thoughts power. Interrupt them with a firm "Smoking isn't an option. Ever" And gear your brain to other things.....more productive things. Like cleaning out the fridge. Or getting some fresh air. Or learning a new hobby.

.....organize a closet. Or a cupboard. Or the junk drawer. Shave your legs. Cut the lawn. Pull some weeds. Go to a park. Swing on the swings. Wash some windows. Write a poem.

.....bake something! Write something. Draw, paint, sing Color in a colouring book (no kidding, it's a great stress reliever)

Smoking isn't an option. Take it off the table. It's simply NOT an option. Pick something else. A walk. A movie. A bath. A book. A nap. An apple. A coffee.

Comrade did indeed hunt me down.....:) I'm glad he did, because get this...! I forgot that it was my 2yr mark. How does that happen? When does it happen......that you turn the corner and become a non-smoker rather than someone who is quitting smoking? 2 years. Wow. We are amazing Comrade.

I dunno if Sarge still posts here but some of his no nonsense, shoot from the hip, tell it like it is words helped me immensely in my first days...weeks...months. The best: Embrace The Suck. You'll have moments, many moments, where quitting just plain sucks. If you're anything like me, you'll think of throwing the towel in....because...."the way I feel sucks!" Embrace the suck. Accept it. Head down and power through it! Wherever you are Sarge.....thank you. I've earned them stripes! I'm coming up on 2 years.......and I never ever have to 'embrace the suck' in regards to nicotine anymore. But Embrace The Suck has been instrumental in many areas of my life :)

I haven't been here in ages.....my apologies for not offering support. I am busy living life, breathing deep, marvelling in the joy of one more broken addiction. I don't even count time anymore. I'm simply a non-smoker. How's my Bakon and Nancy and Colleen and Babs andandand.....

Pfft. I'm still in a winter coat. Still shoveling the driveway. Still warming my car for 10 minutes before heading to work. And still breathing fresh clean smoke free air :)

Hi Bakon! I have finally dug myself out from the Avalanche of Canadian snow. :)

Ha! I kinda sorta needed this I lost my 20ish quit smoking pounds..... Then backslid....and put 15 back on Uggg I forgot to shuffle daily. (The Doritos didn't help either)

Let's throw a hissy fit together. Hissy fits are more fun in pairs......and it beats smoking :)

Thanks folks :) My lovely, wonderful smelling, supportive, sometimes crazy, quit smoking buddies. It's been a helluva ride...... but here I stand.....on this lido deck, or train platform, or....did we decide what the 1yr place is?! Anyhow....I stand here a non-smoker. Healthy and happy. And forever grateful to you all.

Markus, I can totally relate to that! For such a long time my mantra was "I don't do that anymore" or "I'm not a smoker" I'm not really sure when it happened....that I turned some corner and just looked at cigarettes as harmful, bad and dirty. I hope newbies know.......this will happen for them too. That they won't always crave, that theyll get to a point where it's all just a non-issue. That they'll go weeks without even thinking about it..... It's a remarkable freedom :)

Just bumping this Comrade, I wanted you to see that I knew our dates were coming. Booze and drugs haven't completely wrecked me :p
