  5. Welcome, JClarke! Yes, you can do this! I understand all about cigarettes being your friend. I felt like I lost my best friend but it turned out it was my worst friend! Just remember before you light up you should post an SOS and wait till 3 people answer. It's amazing how much just being occupied on the computer (or phone) will let the crave come and go! Just remember NOPE - Not One Puff Ever - just for today!
  6. Bellerophon, welcome to the Quit Train and congratulations on your quit! I used the patches to quit and the first couple of days kept them on 24 hours a day. My night times were terrible! So I decided to take the patch off for the night and that worked somewhat. Then I started putting it on later in the day and taking it off earlier in the evening. After 2 weeks I decided to see how long I could wait to put it on one morning and that was the end of the patches! When I would get a crave, I would sip water and take deep breaths! (I used the 14 mg patches as I normally smoked about 10 cigarettes a day) Good luck on your exam!
  7. Jess, you are doing wonderful! I can remember when I hit 9 hours smoke free I was more excited than a child waiting for Santa! When I hit 2 months it was the most wonderful feeling in the world. Just be careful for when that crave shows up from no where and be prepared to say NOPE! I got excited just reading your post!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
