  3. Evelyn it is ok to cry let it out it can be freeing...........you know what you need to do and why it is important I am not going to lecture you there.......but keep it going and keep your quit maybe dedicate your quit in honor of your mom if that helps, know that even though I dont know you or your mom she would have been proud of your quit of your strength that you dont realize you have (but you have it) You can make it I have faith in you.......I know you want it I see it in your posts....vent here all you want that is what it is for .....just remember deep breathes, drink lots of water, you will be emotional expect that and know that that will pass, the first week isnt called hell week for nothing and heck week is just a tad better. It does get better I know we all say that but it does. I have lost all three parents (not to smoking other diseases) My real mom died when I was 2 of mylogenous luekemia at 41, my step-mom died of a heart attack at 69, and my dad died at 75 of prostate cancer and non-hodgkins lymphoma. I understand losing a parent is hard, difficult even but know that they would want you to live your life to the fullest and the best way you can. You can do this hun {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

  8. HI TAC welcome to the site :)
  9. it is great and your friend is a wise one........I also see effect of smoking of my patients in the OR whether they are losing a limb due to decreased circulation or the way they wake up and we have worry more about their airway.......heres a little story about me, I had a tonsillectomy in 2009 (I was a smoker then) woke up from anesthesia still in the OR room and had 5 laryngospasms. it was scary as all hell couldnt breathe at all they used PEEP (positive-end-expiratory-pressure) they finally had to do an epi updraft I scared all the people in the OR (my coworkers) one nurse stated she hates circulating tonsillectomies now because of me (not really but sort of) guess what I still went back to smoking after that surgery, you would think that after that I would be able to quit but no I wasnt too bright just kept on going until my husbands heart stent placement prompted my and his quit. Addiction is a stupid thing and makes you make stupid decisions. SMH.
  10. How are you doing today?
  11. I use to think all those things and more.....couldnt do it---was too hard for me, this was a lie..........I like smoking it relieves my stress-this was a BIG lie...........eh I am going to die anyway might as well do what I want-this was a BIG stupid lie...........smoking calms me down-this was an illogical lie because nicotine "speeds" your heart up and not relaxing for your body at all, You need to wade through all the lies you are telling yourself and break through to the other side (its nice over here :) )......we all told ourselves some sort of lie to keep ourselves smoking to take the easy route but truly keeping smoking is not the easy route it is a hard route one I wouldnt wish on anyone.......only you can quit smoking for you .......it is quite honestly the best thing I have ever done for myself.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
