  3. Great post!! I've not given red wine a test yet, but that day is coming soon. For that first thing in the morning "replacement", I would fix myself a glass of lemon water. I'd drink that slowly as I waited for my coffee. It was good and i continue it to this day. And I'm not so far into this quit that I'm making any big waves one way or the other. The first couple weeks was a planned free for all. Since then it's more about being reasonable. I have a wicked angry ankle right now so exercise is pretty subdued. In spite of that, rather than gaining I've lost a few so that works for me! And the story continues..

  5. Eons ago when working on health/fitness (as a smoker mind you  ), we had NSVs (non-scale victories) to indicate the benefits we were experiencing beyond a number on a scale. I'm still having NSVs but now they're non-smoking victories. Today's NSV was smelling the fabric softener on a workout shirt that had been sitting in a drawer for who knows how long. Pulled it on and thought whoa..smells good. Seems the old sniffer is waking up more and more each day.
  6. Summer (Alaskan Springs are so so ugly) Sweet Potato or Russet Potato

  8. Both, but salt-water if pushed....LOVE being on a boat in big water. Different kind of fight landing the fish tho. Sweet or Salty

  15. AK has Veterans. I don't know about other states, but I can attest there are LOTS of Vets living here. LOTS
  16. Exactly! Glad you have a healthy source to fill the space.
  17. Why I quit....because being a smoker was closing doors on opportunity..opportunities in all aspects of life. Being a non-smoker gives me the chance to secure my hopes and dreams, or in the very least opens the door to pursue them. I want things, ya know. Benefits...they're unfolding daily but I see improvements in my overall well being...physical, mental, esteem, etc. I am no where near "there" yet, but I have the chance to get there being a non-smoker. That part is the most wonderful.

  22. Feet planted right here. Can't go anywhere anyway...too many straightjackets and big bellies for this hockey puck to budge.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
