  3. Oh, Doreen said she did that and it was pretty fun the first time around.
  4. Sound like fun! Bring headphones and a movie for the plane...it'll help. Do you have your Clean Cooter embossed flip flops already packed?
  5. You're not just saying that with the hopes of offing another American tourist, right?

  7. Swim in the buff in the Indian Ocean (last one to do it in). There's a cool marine research station on the west coast of Australia. It'd be fun to volunteer during the sperm whale migration (a spectacular sight or so I've read) and I could achieve two goals at one time. Shark attacks are kind of frequent tho...gotta be careful. Somehow make my way to and stand at the geographic North Pole. Lots more but those are on top.

  12. Always an inspiration Jess. Congrats
  13. Made it thru my first evening of too much red wine without a flinch. Yay me!

  14. Happy Birthday Bakon!
  15. Who's running the mechanical bull tonight? Heard Doreen has her name on the list 20 times.
  16. I was thinking along the lines of what EL B and Babs mentioned. These friends appear to be so relaxed and having fun and are not crabby because they're sitting in a 4 hour or so time frame with no limitations put upon them. They can smoke when they want, right? But that span of time and event will end and THEN what? Those addicts will be faced with the gripping, stifling, panic driven thinking life of a smoker! They'll be trapped in that prison of panic and anxiety and won't be feeling so relaxed nor having fun. And guess who will be the crabby ones then? It won't be you.
  17. It's the same effect as quitting but in reverse. We don't realize the improvements in the moment, but we do over time. :)
  18. There's a big component missing and that is to have FUN! Drop your shoulders, relax your hands, breath from your diaphragm and have a soft smile on your face. And, if there are any chi running groups in your area, check them out. I plan on trying them when I'm back on the road. I have a friend who was 74 when he ran his last marathon. He's still running 1/2s. His main advice always was to enjoy it.
  19. Doing a Couch to 5k program has worked for a lot of people. Maybe a joining a local running club where you can get tips on form/stride. Worry about your pace/speed later. Maybe jump on a running forum for beginners and read up.
  20. Good on you! Something to strive toward is always a good thing. If I can recommend one important thing...take some of that money you have saved and invest in a really good pair of shoes (and sox!). Go to a running store and have a proper fitting done. It will make a world of difference. ETA: conditioning is important. jumping in with gusto might sideline you with an injury so find a good training program that will get you to the Start line with a healthy body.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
