  1. Here's the ingredient:
  2. Dot some spinach in various places. Where it does phenomenally well without effort is the place to put in the blueberry bush. The second best place is in a sunny spot real close to where you like to sit and look at the garden. Handy for snack breaks!
  3. Tomorrow is 4 months. (The 21st) Go ahead and toss one up in the morning - I'm busy planting stuff during the day this week. Nice to be thought of btw :-)
  4. Betcha make it a month! Good for you!
  5. If you stomp off in the middle of an argument to smoke a cig you aren't arguing with that person. See how the cig magically eliminated the stress! Putting tab A into slot B (or any other dumbo task) getting you all worked up? Smoke one and five minutes later we're okay again with the tab A slot B ordeal. For 20 minutes... heh heh. (We wanted an excuse to get a fix). Tying your shoes for the first time with out a cigarette is stressful. When I first quit I happened to be watching the "Fringe" series on netflix. Made perfect sense - I'm still me but dropped into a parallel universe where everything is mostly the same - except I don't smoke. Of course it's gonna be weird. I'm getting used to it.
  6. Hey, welcome back. In here we suffer less than "out there" and that's good enough for me.
  7. The thing that keeps me from chucking the quit away is knowing that the more time passes the easier not smoking becomes. Yeah, far out the teeth are nicer but I still can't run and the doughnut ring around my middle is quite the phenomenon. The whole smoke/quit smoke deal isn't taking up as much space in my mental life as it did earlier.
  8. My son and I biked for 6 miles along the dirt roads behind my place.
  9. I have seen me get bent out of shape over something and immediately think "smoke time!" Yeah, a rage will eventually get me so it is real obvious what the choice is - chill out and let whatever is chapping my ass slide by or smoke. It is ridiculous to let a crisis that will pass trump loosing a quit and smoking just long enough... to kill you. That's my methodology. YMMV
  10. And the Coke Machine starts... slowly floating towards the sky... I insert forty thousand chads for ballast.
  11. My knuckles hurt just thinking about it. (Lutheran Nuns ain't no picnic either) Crap - ya drug another factoid outta me...
  12. I'm sorry - not now okay? Got way too much going on. Besides there are eleventeen AMA's going on right now and that cheapens the deal for everyone. Spend some real time on each person, eh? I'll be done with the bulk of planting by the first of June. I'll step up to the hot seat then, okay? I'll give you one though as a teaser - "Your first thought when you saw your newborn son? I was holding him and said "I'd kill for him". Aine says "That's what I needed to hear"
  13. And a flock of ducks land and immediately start crapping everywhere. So, insert some duck poop...
  14. Another month in the bag!
  15. I tried to stay real quiet and careful... tiptoed around myself and still do to some degree today. I know that my emotions will over-ride sensibility if I get too wound up about anything and it isn't that far from stupid to smoking in my corner of the universe. I trust me as far as I can throw me.
  16. I complain more than Aine does about the little fat roll I got going around the middle. Stupid metabolism. I used to eat a half dozen bavarian creme chocolate iced bismarks as a midmorning snak and cheer if I weighed over 132. Now I'm eating boiled eggs and the scale is showing 149. One more pound and I go ballistic... and do what the sarge said - stop shoving calories into the piehole. I don't see any weight gain in Aine either. B)
  17. You get a district-wide meeting schedule for AA. I insert a garden spade
  18. Yippie!
  19. ran all the way around the block without stopping after mowing my mom's yard today.
  20. the coke machine uses the credit cards to host a frat party Insert a mop...
  21. I never understood what non-smokers were bitching about - hey it's some smoke what's the big deal? Now I know. You got a world class dose and I'm not going to feel bad about avoiding smoke filled rooms. Glad you made it out alive!
  22. Now don't go insulting my cheese making... :to_take_umbrage:
  23. Hundreds of deep knee bends planting sweet potatoes. Ran to the end of the pasture and back, Two hours of taekwondo.
  24. And your local school district builds another sports facility. I insert an Adolf Hitler poster.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
