  1. You can check the album any time. It's updated regularly. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.745171265503443.1073741840.100000317292043&type=1&l=235fd942e5 Easy Peasy
  2. Illogical (non) argument is illogical. Case in point: because "it"'s there, doesn't mean "it" has to be. Sarge once dragged 22 pounds of gear to the bottom of The Grand Canyon that were never used. It didn't have to be there. Neither does the baggage of a difficult quit. If one wants to make quitting difficult ... then it will certainly be difficult. If one wants to make quitting easy, then it can be so. The Sarge says again: Easy Peasy! HINT: Sarge sees it, and can only shake his head when folks TRY REAL HARD (RINGO) to make things difficult when they don't have to be.
  3. Unnecessary radiation exposure. Easy Peasu
  4. What is this strange tongue with which you speak - "rough days/spells" ... The Sarge does not understand. Easy Peasy Lemon Breezy. Sarge quit because (paraphrased) "5 years and heart attack, 10 years and death" is not something anyone wants to hear from The Doc at 42 years young. Quitting was just a small part of a much greater lifestyle overhaul. ... and it worked. Easy Peasy
  5. Banana Splits Easy Peasy
  6. Triumph says: "Fight The Good Fight" Fight the good fight every moment ... Every minute, Every day ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xevc7-7Tk-Q Easy Peasy
  7. Mrs. Sarge just went out the door for a 4-miler. Sarge said "HA! I ran mine last night". Off night tonight. Only 12 pullups this morning. Easy Peasy
  8. You're never really good enough friends with someone until you can talk about different kinds of "anal" with them, right? Easy Peasy
  9. Easy Peasy

  11. Sarge would have at least 4 more rentals[1] in his inventory if he'd have taken the money handed over to Phillip Morris and invested it in a down payment and some rehab. Instead of sucking hundreds of dollars a month earlier in his life, it would be paying thousands a month during his retirement. Sometimes ... he sobs in his sleep dreaming of what could have been ... Easy Peasy FOOTNOTE: [1] On a brighter note: the first rental is paid off in exactly 1 year and 8 months. 12 more years until all units are owned free-and-clear. Sarge may just never work again, anyway, if things work out over the next 3 to 5 years.
  12. Humala Bebuhla Zeebuhla Boobuhla Humala Bebuhla Zeebuhla BOP! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeXjBWN8LO8 Easy Peasy
  13. 5-miler, basement treadmill, 1% hill/grade @ 39:46 (7:57/mile) Sarge had incentive - Mrs. Sarge bet him a bag o' Totino's Pizza Rolls he couldn't get under 8-minute miles his first week back. Only the second run after a six week hiatus and already into the 7s. Not too far in at 7:57, but good enough. Back when Sarge was a Pig (and 50-ish pounds heaver), he lived on Pizza Rolls and Cherry Coke. Haven't had a Pizza Roll in almost 3 years. Gonna save it up for dinner Friday night. Gonna treat my Baby right! Pizza Rolls, Cherry Coke, and a candle-light dinner ;) Easy Peasy Oh - and a new record on pullups for both of us this week. Sarge hit 13 by-the-book military pullups a couple days back and Mrs. Sarge hit 11 ... uhh ... not so military-by-the-book but probably "good enough" pullups. This climbing thing has done miracles for Sarge's upper body strength. He was the kid in gym class who could do ZERO pullups (not one, nada, zilch, diddly-squat). He could only do 5 by the end of basic training at 18 years old ... and now pushing 50 he's gonna triple that. Goal is 15. Current PR: 13.
  14. If smoking cures salmon and bacon, why is it so harmful to humans? Easy Peasy
  15. Unfortunately, unless you learn this, you will not make it. The Sarge at this point does not believe you will make it. Resistance and denial is no good for a successful quit. No. Damned. Good. Lose the resistance, lose the denial, or lose the quit. Again, a choice. Always a choice. Always. Easy Peasy
  16. Impossible. You can only relapse if you want to ... and you take action on that want. A relapse doesn't just jump up and grab you by surprise. It is a conscious decision. A choice. A particular set of actions that one *voluntarily* partakes in. You have a choice, y'know. The Sarge doesn't want to relapse, so he *chooses* not to. Easy Peasy BTW - It goes away. It really does.
  17. Sarge spits on All Woo Great And Small. PTUI! The jury is still "inconclusive" on meditation ... but it's highly suspect. Easy Peasy
  18. 92, actually - Herbert Taryton NON-FILTERED! 92! True story. Easy Peas
  19. When Mrs. Sarge is ready to quit with, so we can do it together. HINT: She never was and still isn't ready yet near 3 years later. Don't wait on anyone else -- you might just be waiting forever if you do. Easy Peaey
  20. A Paradiddle: Easy Peasy
  21. We're not "trying to" ... We Are! Even those who only manage to get in a day or three before relapsing ... that's a day or three better than before. :) Easy Peasy
  22. The Sarge can think of more than a handful of quitters who are stupid. Some of them by birth, some worked hard all their lives to be stupid. Stupidity knows no bounds. Quitter or Smoker. Stupid is stupid. Quitter/Smoker and Smart/Stupid are orthogonal - independent of one another. Easy Peasy "Stupid is as Stupid does ..." -- Momma Gump
  23. After 6 full weeks off (Achilles pain), The Sarge had his first run this morning. A pain-free (YAY!) run, even. 4 miles, treadmill, 1% hill/grade @ 33:35 (8:23/mile) - starting slow and working back to race pace. Easy Peasy EDIT: And Mrs. Sarge asked about a quick 2.5-miler tonight before sunset. Sarge feels so good about running again with no achilles pain, he's gonna go ahead and run with her tonight, too.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
