Sarge is 45 years old. Old. He's done some pretty f*cking cool sh*t in the past few years but the number one, by far, number one coolest thing he's done is to Quit Smoking. Come on, folks, you can do it too. It's easy. Easy Peasy

... and when The Sarge sees someone slamming down a Super Sized Big Mac meal he thinks similar thoughts. He misses them and wouldn't they taste good? He remembers Big Macs. So what? They are just thoughts. What's the big deal? Easy Peasy

Bullsh|t. You are a smoker in denial. We had this discussion a year ago - y'know: honesty and how you can never have a successful quit, The Sarge says again: NEVER - until you can be honest. Sarge sees that the discussion didn't "take", as you are once again being dishonest. You are lying to us and, more importantly, to yourself. Do you believe The Sarge now? Easy Peasy

There was no "light bulb". Just a deal Sarge made with himself: Every time you want a cigarette, go run a quick (7 - minute or faster) mile - had a treadmill both at home and at the office so, no problem most of the time. For those who don't run, 7 minutes or faster is ... well ... f*cking fast. Sucking wind that hard killed any desire to smoke for at least the next 4 hours, and probably most of the day. It's what got The Sarge through it all. The treadmill. Running. It was a literal Life Saver. Easy Peasy

IamDoingIt, You've Been AWOL For 7 Days!

And there's the problem right there. Don't attempt to quit. Just quit. Quit. If it's another "attempt to quit" then it will just end the way all the others diid. Make this a Quit. Not an AttemptToQuit. A Quit. Easy Peasy -
What makes you think it's in the right place now? Hint: What's different this time? Easy Peasy

There is no "magic" in a quit. There is no "miracle" in a quit. There is only accomplishment. You can be excited about it, or dread it. The Sarge himself was dragged into it unwillingly, kicking and screaming, by The Doc and all his talk of imminent heart attack and early death. Don't think of magic and miracles. They will ultimately let you down because they are untruths. Think only of accomplishing the mission. At all costs. At all costs. Easy Peasy

Time for that first promotion. You have earned a 1-Week Stripe, Private Sam-I-Am. Easy Peasy Easy Peasy

You not only make something of your quit that does not have to be, you also make something of The Sarge that he is not. Choices. Both of them. Easy Peasy

It can be easy, or it can be hard. You have a choice. Ask folks who have been around - it's got nothing at all to do with "since 2011" ... other than it's been Easy Peasy the whole time. Perspective. If you're coming from the perspective of "woe is me, I'm having a hard time, this is difficult " ... well ... it will be. If you're coming form the perspective of "this ain't so bad, I can handle it, Easy Peasy" ... well ... it will be. It's all what you make of it, and you are making more of it that it has to be, and more than what it is. Trust The Sarge. He does not lie. Easy Peasy PS - did you at all read what The Sarge wrote in the earlier post? There's some very relevant, important stuff there.

Sarge posted a new record on the board this morning: 14 pullups. Mrs. Sarge dropped from a record 12 to only 7 this morning. Everybody has a bad day once in a while, right? To be fair - she waited until after a fast 4-miler on the morning run, so she was pooped out. 5-miler on the treadmill scheduled for tonight. Waiting for darkness and cool front to blow in before getting all hot and sweaty. Easy Peasy -

The Sarge opines: "Why quit twice?" First, you'll have to quit the damned cigarettes. Then, you'll have to quit the NRT that you are now addicted to. It boggles the mind that this is somehow ... "easier" ... <boggle> Trust The Sarge when he says: Ya don't need 'em. Ya don't need 'em. Easy Peasy

Easy Peasy is a way of thinking - "No matter what happens, I've got this - Easy Peasy". To make that happen, one must first learn to Embrace The Suck. Live for the challenge, knowing it's gonna suck but, again, you've got it 'cause its Easy Peasy, right? The Sarge thinks it much like his Marathon Training was. The same mindset that put him 26.2 miles with a smile on his face is what made quitting smoking Easy Peasy with a smile on his face. Attitude is everything. Everydamnedthing. Easy Peasy

4-miler this morning. Treadmill. 1% hill/grade @ 30:36 (7:39/mile) Mrs. Sarge is whining about having to run later today. Sarge is already done. Neener neener neener. Easy Peasy -
