  1. Nike said it best: Just do it. Just do it. The Sarge has never pledged... but he NOPEd it every day. Now? He just lives every day without even thinking about it unless he comes here. Just. Do. It. Easy Peasy
  2. Sarge leaves tomorrow - Boulder, Colorado to climb these: They may just be looking like this next week, instead. Miles and miles of hiking. Thousands and thousands of feet of climbing. The occasional Mountain Trail Run thrown in, too, if we're not too pooped from climbing. Easy Peasy
  3. Sarge had plantar fasciitis back in 2012(right side only). Five of the shitiest months in recent memory. He feels your pain. Nothing worked but time. Waited it out and it went away ... but took almost half a year. Easy Peasy
  4. Easy Peasy
  5. Keep calm, and Embrace The Suck. Easy Peasy
  6. Start with this: phraseology. "let it go" is too pasive, kinda like it "just happened and I let it". That's the complete, polar opposite of what actually happened when you *actively* threw away , by conscious choice, your most recent quit. Yes, it's just words. Yes, it's just semantics. Yes, Sarge is being a PedanticDickhead™ But it makes a difference. It makes a difference. ALL the difference. Easy Peasy
  7. Pedantic Correction: Nicotine kills bugs. It's *IN* weeds (some would argue it evolved specifically to f*ck with the bug populations) It's a pesticide, not a herbicide But ... Yeah: what he said. Easy Peasy
  8. How many crack addicts get drug free by switching to snorting their drug of choice? Why complicate things? If you're quitting, then quit. You don't need that other shit and it won't make your quit magical. Just manage your quit as is without introducing complications. If you don't, you'll soon wish you did. Easy Peasy
  9. Run. Not long - 5 minutes - as long as smoking the cigarette would have taken... as fast as you can keep it up for 5 minutes. Guaranteed you won't want a smoke for quite a while afterword. Want to kill the craves for all day? Go on a 10-miler. Easy Peasy
  10. Anything that can be grown in the yard. Current "obsessions" involve trying to obtain things that aren't already growing there. Kiwi, Paw-Paw, Asian Pears, and Chestnuts. All being feverishly researched and ordered for fall (after they go dormant, but before ground is frozen) delivery so they can go in the ground for a winter nap and wake up ready to grow in the spring. Easy Peasy
  11. It goes away. Just keep waiting it out and it goes away. Sarge hasn't had what anyone would call a "crave" in ... near as he can figure ... over 2 years now ... ??? Easy Peasy
  12. As a climber ... I gotta say y'all got the wrong metaphor. You don't climb the rope. You climb the wall. The rope catches you if you fall off the wall. :D :P Climb the wall! Easy Peasy
  13. This is the Woo-Woo to which Sarge refers. Easy Peasy
  14. Yesterday's harvest (because it's raining this morning and who wants to go out in that?) And because you asked (we don't pickle Cayenne, we dry it - but there's plenty) Easy Peasy
  15. So-called "No Man's Land" is an imaginary, self-fulfilling, Land Of Make Believe. It is superstitious Woo-Woo of the highest order. If you do not want to experience No Man's Land, you do not have to. Easy Peasy
  16. Sometimes plants have it too easy and if you stress them a bit , they kick into survival/reproduction mode. Other times you get a dud. Not familiar with loofah - have you tried hand/manual pollination? Grab a q - tip and start swabbing ;) Easy Peasy
  17. Next Spring. CCD (colony collapse disorder) has devastated the local native/ wild population and 3 disappointing years in a row in The Orchard were the last straw. No / minimal pollinators leads to crappy yields. Downloaded plans last month and picked up materials/parts last week. When it gets cold next month, Sarge will be in the garage building hives. Watch for pics ... Easy Peasy
  18. 4 freezers and almost 1000 canning jars ... but the dehydrators see the most action. Cheapest, easiest, best way to preserve most of it is drying/dehydrating. Easy Peasy
  19. It's a hobby ... but it wouldn't be called "fun". More like "survival". Sarge slings SQL for a living (database programming) and hasn't taken a contract in near 3 years now - trying out the whole Early Retirement thing. Gotta eat so it's more like ... survival. Easy Peasy
  20. 2 ponds (just over an acre underwater), don't fish. Wouldn't eat a thing that comes out of 'em. Too much runoff from neighboring farms - chemicals/pesticides and whatnot. Had chickens for a few years, too many predators. 14 laying hens taken one summer. Gave up. Easy Peasy
  21. You knew *exactly* what you were doing. It's time for some honesty, or your next attempt is just as doomed. Easy Peasy
  22. It seems to The Sarge that you have not tried "everything". In fact, it seems you have been actively ignoring the only thing that will work. The only thing that can work. Have you thought about, y'know, giving the whole "Not Smoking, Ever" thing a shot? Sarge promises it will work. He promises. Easy Peasy
  23. Anything. Easy Peasy
  24. Sarge is 45 years old. Old. He's done some pretty f*cking cool sh*t in the past few years but the number one, by far, number one coolest thing he's done is to Quit Smoking. Come on, folks, you can do it too. It's easy. Easy Peasy
  25. Me Like Easy Peasy

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
