  1. Excuses piled upon excuses after yet more excuses. Sarge no longer believes a word you say about quitting. Easy Peasy
  2. Sarge is on his 14th trailer load of Cow Crap prepping the garden beds for this Spring. 4 cubic yards a trailer load. 350 ish throws of the pitchfork per load. THAT'S 56 CUBIC YARDS OF DECOMPOSED, COMPOSTED POO! 2 trailer loads a week for the next 10 to 12 weeks ... Most of it's a year or more old by the time we get it. Smells like dirt and hay by that time. No nasty animal poop smell. Easy Poopy
  3. The smell of freshly tilled dirt ... out in The Garden. Easy Peasy
  4. Easy Peasy
  5. We (Sarge and Mrs. Sarge) did Katahdin (Northern terminus of The A.T.) a couple of months back. Lovely hike! We're climbers ... but usually do more hiking than "hikers" just to get to the base of some obscure climb somewhere. Hiking at elevation and with terrain will really let you know you've screwed the pooch on cardio-vascular health with decades of smoking. What used to be an all-day affair as a smoker on, say, a 6-mile approach to a wall somewhere - causing ridiculous sucking of wind and many stops for smoke breaks has now become an easy romp through the hills. Hike the hike, folks. Both metaphorically AND for realsies. Easy Peasy
  6. Red Ten standing by ... Easy Peasy
  7. Sarge quit caffeine for 2+ years when he quit nicotine. And then he regained his senses. Coffee every morning since. Easy Peasy
  8. Sarge doesn't miss ... Smoking. Easy Peasy
  9. You will crave. Period. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar. It's kinda why we kept smoking, The good news? They are easy to deal with. Craves go away if you smoke. Craves go away if you DONT smoke. Same-Same. Which would you rather do? Sarge thought so. Easy Peasy
  10. There is nothing special about Day Three. It's only significance is that you think it's somehow ... different. HINT: It's not. It's in your head. Don't give it any power, and it will have none. Just another day. On to day four ... Easy Peasy
  11. > This final quit The Sarge believes! > This final quit So far so good > This final quit But beware: remember this phrase during The Bad Times, too. Especially the "final" part. On to day 21 ... Easy Peasy
  12. By day TWO - Sarge knew he was a non-smoker for life. Not so much on that first day. It took about 10 more months to get comfortable with that fact and forget all about smoking. Easy Peasy
  13. You don't need a plan. A plan is avoidance and procrastination. An excuse - "I don't have a plan yet ... I can't quit yet..." "I didn't have a plan, that's why I failed ..." Nope. Not buyin' it. Put them down. Never pick them up again. It's the *only* plan you need. Easy Peasy
  14. You will have stressors and jackasses in you life with, or without cigarettes. They are independent of, and orthogonal to, your status as a non-smoker. Don't use them as an excuse. They are not an excuse. Easy Peasy.
  15. Calling Juan ... Where are you Juan ? The Sarge requests a Status Report. Easy Peasy
  16. Au contraire. Reason and intelligence are *everything* to a successful quit and to abandon them is guaranteed failure. Easy Peasy
  17. Scared? Of freedom? <boggle> Consider it documented. Keep your hands and arms inside The Train at all times, secure loose items, fasten the safety belt and prepare for the ride of your life... Easy Peasy
  18. MFP FTW! Sarge logs on for a few months every year to unbury the abs from all that Thanksgiving Turkey, Christmas Cookies, and New Year's Whiskey. It's virtually impossible to lose weight without tracking, and yet so easy when you log, track, and are held accountable. Two thumbs up! Easy Peasy
  19. Yummers! That looked delicious! Easy Peasy
  20. That guy could be my long lost twin. Dopplefuckingganger Easy Peasy
  21. Woo : http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Woo Salted Woo : http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Salt_lamp Easy Peasy
  22. Woo is still Woo, even when salted. Easy Peasy
  23. BTW there is only one way to quit and it is quick as you'd ever want it: put them away and never pick up another cigarette. Ever. Quick as can be. You can do it right now and be quit in less than a second, right? Easy Peasy
  24. Sarge had periodontal disease (gum disease - degeneration of gums, receding gum line, noticeable/measurable (saw the x-rays)bone loss of the jaw bone at the teeth root zone ... Quit smoking in 2011. By 2013 all signs of active disease were gone (except the damage already done that doesn't regenerate/repair) Gums have been pink, and perfect, and healthy ever since. It's not just the teeth. The gums count, too. Easy Peasy P.S. - so are you quitting or what?
  25. Running a 14-miler w/ Mrs. Sarge. Unseasonably warm weather this weekend. Easy Peasy

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
