  1. Yum Pippa! I made this rice concoction tonight. Basmati rice, shrimp, cajun seasoning, lime juice, garlic, onion powder, scallions, tomatoes with steamed green/yellow beans:
  2. Smoking is NOT an option!
  3. Smoking is gross, so it's a big NOPE for me today as well!
  4. Everybody's food looks amazing! Here's dinner last night. I made pork tenderloin, carrots, a salad, and some herbed pasta:
  5. I started smoking when I was 19 or 20, so I can't really blame my parents for that. However, my dad still smokes like a chimney and my mom was a heavy smoker. She died in October 2013 at the age of 59 from a heartattack. She was very, very sick leading up to her death. She had a condition called Peripheral Artery Disease (hardening and narrowing of arteries) and about 9 years ago, she had to get her big toe amputated. Smoking definitely didn't help. I've been around cigarettes my entire life. It was the norm of the generation that my mom and dad grew up in. She smoked throughout all of her four pregnancies; they smoked in the car with the windows up. My dad is in his 70s and very set in his ways. I doubt he will ever quit.
  6. I was obsessed with maple candies and gum when I quit. No wonder I gained a bunch of weight! But I am with everyone else -- whatever works! You gotta do what you gotta do!
  7. My mom was a heavy smoker, and so is my step-dad. My biological father quit 30+ years ago.
  8. I've watched the video a few times and couldn't stop laughing. I have a few friends who have children that are obsessed with Frozen and this is basically how they feel, haha.
  9. Yup, that's exactly what happens to me too. I'm unemployed, so I can't really talk, but I'm not looking to date anyone since I'm already in a relationship, lol.
  10. Definitely here!
  11. Oh wow, that was just a guess! Hehe. 1. I am very competitive by nature. I hate losing. 2. One of my college professors who claimed she never gives out 100%'s in her classes gave me 100% at the end of the semester. 3. Steve and I met through church.
  12. Happy Birthday Babs! You are a wonderful person and I hope you have a fantastic day. :)
  13. Um. 24?
  14. #1 is the lie?
  15. We will help any way we can. :)
  16. Cheers to that!
  17. Steve bought cigars tonight and all I could think was, "Wow, I'd really like one of those." I HATE cigars. I think it's just habit for me to have these smoking thoughts sometimes, even 2.5 years later. Over time, they will become much less intense and you'll be thinking to yourself, "Now why would I want to do a thing like that?" Ultimately though, you just have to grit your teeth and fight through these cravings. Nothing is worth giving up your quit for. There are much nicer things you can spend your hard-earned money on, which I'm very glad that you're doing!
  18. Yeeeees. Shopping is so much better than smoking!
  19. What a great (and terrifying) depiction of this awful addiction.
  20. I love how the heads are so proportionate to the bodies, hahaha.
  21. Hi Kristin: I know what it's like to romance a cigarette, and I know what it's like to relapse. I'm sorry things are tough right now -- I know you are very busy and are probably stressed beyond words. You have to keep telling yourself that regardless of what's happening in your life, smoking won't help. It in no way will take away your stress and will make you feel worse (the disappointment and regret relapse brings). I know life stinks right now, but ride it out. She will eventually shut the hell up. You have to believe in that. You will get to a point where your addiction will be a distant memory.
  22. Looks like the type of guy who would hit on me, hehe. I always attract the freaky guys.
  23. Already on it. ;) Three and I'm usually done for the night. Steve makes them strong!
  24. Stuck inside thanks to the snow. Drinking a martini and eating my salad. I'll probably watch some Project Runway and do some aerobics tonight. I'm sad that I can't go out.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
