  12. So many reasons, had been trying on and off for a number of years, knew it was not good for me, but clung onto the "it wont happen to me" syndrome for as long as I could, my oldest son started smoking, didn't faze me, then my youngest told me I would die if I continued and partner told me he and my children need me, simples , my health was suffering too, scared of having a heart attack, my mum took angina at 51 and fast approaching that age, the cost of cigarettes I could no longer justify being heavily in debt and burning money so so many reasons, but mainly I wanted to quit for me.
  13. I am 48 years young, smoked since I was 14 OMG 34 years I smoked, at least a pack a day up to about a year ago when I cut down to 10 a day if anyone is hovering out there and wants to join and matches me please PM would be more than happy to help anyway I can.
  14. Jajasue I came back on and thought ohhh logged onto wrong place lol, then realised nope I havent its gone all posh and we all stand out very very professional looking,
  15. OMG was just researching eating healthly so I can gradually lose weight, my exercise regime is building up now its time to cut out crisps and chocolate, so armed with a shopping list for tommorow and lots of fruit and veg and some green tea, which I believe is very healthy, almonds to snack on and chocolate dipped banana's to subdue those sweet craves
  16. Right anyone who is loitering on the edge of this website I just want to ask you a simple question and I want a yes or no Would you walk into a burning building and inhale the smoke there, knowing and believing what that smoke would do you. Well why are you still lighting a cigarette up and inhaling the smoke...............just saying makes you think doesnt it.
  17. I was really really worried and scared to stop smoking because the cigarette had such a hold over me, a tiny tube of nasty chemicals that kills, that you set fire to and inhale its smoke, had such a hold over me I was so scared to let it go, but do you know something, once I overcame the fear and I face my cravings and deal with them as they should be dealt with a quick short sharp NOPE , it doesnt scare me anymore.
  18. NOPE from me
  19. amazing baffled keep going your doing great
  20. 8 months is fantastic (grrr still can't get my graphic to post :( ) anyhooo Andrew it says Congratulations lol x
  21. Makes you stop and think doesn't it, we once did that!!! beggars belief, so glad you had a great holiday. Your quit is amazing x
  22. It really is scary reading, and whilst people remain smokers these numbers will only continue to grow and grow because the addicted smoker will read an article like above and immediately dismiss the words they see, "it will never happen to me" will echo in their heads, we all know this as we all were once that addicted person, but we realised we could break free and take control of our lives again.
  23. Juan so proud of you, you are doing amazing keep on going and know that you can and you will do this, Attenshhhuuun :D
  24. WOW very powerful words and so very true, makes so much sense
  25. Good to see you Evelyn, your coping with grief from the loss of loved ones and the loss of nicotine in your life, it will take time for your body to heal and adjust but it will I promise and we are all here in the meantime for you

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
