  6. Honestly at this moment in my quit, I would say yes I miss smoking, but I miss it because it was a habit, it was something that I did every day, my brain is still learning to re-adjust to not having cigarettes, I sometimes get a quick smell of smoke and think ohhhh. then I stop and I realise that that one second of bliss would lead to a lifetime of trying to quit again, the burning in the throat, the cough, the smell, the money, smoking was not enjoyable it was a habit and we and the addiction trained ourselves to believe that it was an enjoyable activity, swimming is enjoyable, walking on a clear sunny day listening to the sounds of nature is enjoyable and I would miss these activities, smoking at sometime in the very near future I hope I will be truthfully able to say I don't miss at all. :D

  14. Here in the pubs there is a drink called Woo Woo and I think that is what it does it makes you go Wooooo WOOO after a few shots!! I think the problem is that with 99% of our quits, we walk into them thinking they are going to be as simple as saying I stopped smoking and we will go through no withdrawals and no craves and be able to walk away Simples. Then when we hit the tough times it is so much easier to give in without a fight, then that once, just that 1% we realise that the quit is worthwhile following through, it is worth fighting the addiction and pulling through, we realise that we are worth fighting the crave for, unfortunately relapses will happen because the determination and fight wasnt strong enough. As the quit continues we grow stronger and the addiction becomes weaker but we should always be prepared for a crave should it hit.

  16. Laura hope your feeling a little better. What you are feeling is totally normally, please remember that for a long time you have been inhaling an addictive substance into your body and only a week ago began your journey, your brain is still remembering all that and is missing it thats all, your not going mad your doing brilliantly, nice gentle walk, lovely bubbly bath, good magazine and chocolate, good book and chocolate, all highly recommended, I remember in my first few weeks repeating NOPE, we are all here should you need us, remember no lighting up bits of paper and you will get past this I promise xx

  21. MQ, firstly wonderful post, and secondly and most importantly Thank you and everyone else who has been involved in establishing Quit Train, the operation and well being and keeping its wheels and tracks well oiled, its only in its infancy and I'm proud to say I am here, my quit journey and quit trains journey have begun and are going to go a long long way. Logging on each day keeps me on the straight and narrow in my quit journey and its thanks to you and every single member that is here and who I am proud to say I know and can share their journeys with them. Before long we will be welcoming new members and its great to see so many welcoming people who only want to help quitters, start a quit, keep a quit, and then go on and create a full circle and help another person quit. I tell everyone I know about Quit Train urging them to come on, I have seen one or 2 of my friends in the last few days tentatively reach out to start a quit soon and I'm so excited for them. I could go on, but will stop there, Quit Train here's to you and to every quitter that buys a ticket and jumps on board, TOOT TOOT :D

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
