  1. Mart I agree, I think sometimes we like to test ourselves, I am an absolute non smoker and will never go back, but I think sometimes I bring the thoughts of cigarettes into my head just to see how far I can go!! Crazy yeah I know. I like being able to come here every day it helps to keep my quit intact knowing that what I am feeling is pretty normal and most of us quitters have been through it at one stage or another. You are doing fantastic and try not to stress we are still early days into our quits xx

  8. Bakon ahhh the tales we could tell of Bakon!.............a man of great mystery, as we say in ole blighty a good egg, although slightly cracked in the heid, likes us all to believe he is a tough one to crack, but underneath that hard exterior is a softer centre, he is a bit like the Scarlet Pimpernell........elusive ;) xx
  9. Sweet Kind Doreen awesome job be proud of yourself and your quit big hugs xx

  12. Brittany absolutely so proud of you getting through, the first week is hellish but do you know something you will get through the other side a stronger and healthier person, and never have to go through it again, you are slowly ridding your body of the nicotine, the addiction will try its hardest to fight back but just kick its ass, show it the finger whatever it takes to get you through do it. I remember the crying well lol, but its a way of releasing tension and so much healthier than lighting up a cigarette and poisoning your body, suffocating your lungs and starving your blood of oxygen. Paints a pretty picture! Keep going you got this and your doing fantastic xx
  13. Paula Hunny be proud you are doing absolutely fantastic, a wonderful new life awaits you and you will be able to enjoy it smoke free into the bargain, you and your family are what is important, enjoy each new day that comes and live life to the fullest. Big Hugs to you xx

  16. Long working day for me on a Thursday, have not thought about smoking at work at all and dont miss it, until today. We have a new Service Control Manager that has started, young 23, adorable, and today he kept disappearing for 5 to 10 mins at a time, yuuup a smoker!! I challenged him today, could smell it all the time, all the receptors pinged in my brain, arggghhh no not now, told him I had stopped over 4 months ago, and his reply "give into the crave," WTF....took out his packet of cigarettes and handed me one. I think I must have been catching flies the way my mouth just fell open, I have not looked at or held a cigarette for so long and here I had one in my hand, just right there, in my hand!! For all of 10 seconds I thought and then calmly said "No you are OK I am a non smoker" and gave it him back, and told him my aim was to get him to see sense and to stop smoking. But for that short space of time, being so close to a cigarette, boy was I tempted.
  17. Its amazing reading all the stories, me I just smoke my last cigarette on the night I planned to stop at the time I planned to stop, threw the empty 10 pack in the bin along with my lighter dusted my hands and said "Rights thats that then".,
  18. Charlie thank you so much for sharing your story and congratulations on 8 and half years quit x
  19. Brittany well done, everything you feel is completely normal, I remember the breathing freaked me out, felt like I was continually gasping, but like everything else in your quit journey it will pass, stay focused and remember when each day has passed you will never have to go through that day again, keep alert as well as the craves can creep up on you sometimes , remember DO NOT give into the crave, your body is beginning to heal you owe this to you, xx

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
