Relapsing makes you think doesn't it, I know it made me think, it made me understand that I truly want to kick this addiction once and for all, the addiction makes our brain believe we really want a cigarette but if you look past that little thought and dig a bit deeper you will see that you really and honestly don't need, want or desire it, its only when you give that little thought a bit more room and then some more that it takes over, do not allow it to take over, you have control over the addiction, not the other way round, re-train your thoughts to I am a non smoker, nothing more nothing less. xxx

Not much I can add to all the fantastic replies above, I can be a bit of both depending on what mood im in a Social butterfly flitting from group to group, causing the most noise to a quiet timid little mouse in the corner, I must admit on my previous 7 month quit the social aspect was one that didn't seem to effect me regarding smoking, and again this time too, but I did stop drinking a year ago also, I think if I had a drink in me my resolve would be very little and the desire to smoke would return, so Nat just take it at your pace, do what makes you feel comfortable, if the sight of smokers is unsettling you, move yourself, go and join another group, start a conversation with someone, close your eyes and take a deep breath and remember you are where you are because you achieved it, wow isn't that amazing,xxx

I actually live in a parallel universe and what you are seeing is actually the reverse of myself, I normally fly around the world on my broomstick and someone stole my other 6, my name is not Jackie but DebbieDoes.... (this pic is of my son's 21st taken 2 years ago and as you can see he is delighted to be having his picture taken with his mother!) can just see you Marti, make sure you put your camouflage on and black stripe your face, go get 'em, when we built bases as kids it was always over the branch, make sure you lay plenty of soft foliage on the ground too, it sounds like it will be mega fun, I'll airlift in plenty of supplies for you just like the Black Magic man! xxx

I want to quit but I'm scared............... Eh excuse me scared of what, dying a slow painful death, not being able to breath, having a heart attack, angina, losing limbs, lungs, I could go on but its freaking me out xx

I always have a can of nice smelly stuff at work, and when a nasty niff leaves my space I give it a good schoooshh Ahhhh bliss , I can now sniff out a smoker at 10 paces!! xx

Hi Laura change to your routine can be unsettling, but you can still go out into the garden, listen to the birds, look up at the sky, have a nice cuppa after a your day's work and tell yourself how lucky you are to be free from smoking and to be able to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Small steps hunny, xxx

(((Ava))) thank you for sharing, my mum keeps reminding me of my Aunt Freda, heavy woodbine smoker who died from lung cancer, and pleads with me to please not end up like Aunt Freda , such a horrible painful way to go, after my recent relapse, I have promised my mum faithfully I will not go back to smoking, because I want to keep on living xxx (miss you Aunt Fredaxxx)

Been all over the place today, my mum's wee cat, Smudge who is 19 is having breathing difficulties, has air and fluid on the lungs. He was rushed to the emergency vets last night and has had two more incidences since. My mum has just called he is being rushed up to a special Vetinary hospital in Glasgow. If any place can save him they will be able to. Could all you animal lovers out there please send special prayers for him. He is a very special cat

Susanna, I too relapsed, I too smoked for 2 weeks, I could have carried on and blamed the addiction, blamed the nicotine, blamed Joe blogs from down the street but at the end of the day, ME...I made the conscious decision to get a cigarette to light the cigarette and to smoke the cigarette, yes my addiction was telling my brain to smoke, but I could have been stronger I could have faced the crave face on, I could have not lit that cigarette, we ourselves have the ultimate control over whether we smoke, or whether we don't, yes we can listen to inner voices, but we have to choose not too, if we don't then we will continue to smoke, continue to half heartedly quit, knowing deep down that a few weeks, or months in the future we will relapse, we have to get up each day and know that we no longer smoke, that's really all it is, it is as simple as that, we are missing nothing, it doesn't cure our stress, it doesn't make life better, it certainly doesn't make us happier, get up and do not light another cigarette, you owe yourself more than a life of smoking and an eventual painful death, just remember smoking takes no prisoners and you have the choice to have a life of freedom.
