  2. Hi Evelyn sorry to miss this yesterday, but well done, for taking the crave head on and dealing with it. When you start romancing the nicotine it can take over your whole mind, believe me I know that is how my relapses occured, and believe me you so don't want to be doing that, you have worked so hard to get where you are, and we all know that craves will go if dealt with in the right way. Hang Tuff Evelyn NOPE is the only way forward xx

  9. Hi Tyme, I went through this when I quit last year, I am on antidepressants and have been for years, and I couldn't understand why I felt so low when quitting, i quit using Champix, and after 3 months was still feeling very low so went to speak with my GP here is what she told me " smoking can actually and has been proven to increase the likelihood of suffering from depression, quitting should after the intial shock the your body of coming off nicotine, improve you actual mood," going into this in more detail with her she said that mentally we are actually mourning the loss of nicotine and therefore creating a negative mood without realising it, made alot of sense to me and explained how I was feeling in general, thought processes can sometimes take a while to stick in us, feel for you Tyme and it is definitely worth a visit to your GP because we are all different, love my little happy pills, big hugs xx
  10. lung CANCER...is that word no-body likes to say we whisper "c" or say cancer, softly and quietly as if that will make a difference, or make it go away, I have lost too through cancer, and I remember also, I keep repeating it but its keeping it real.....when I was moaning about gaining weight through stopping smoking, a very close friend said to me "Jacks you can lose weight hunny, but you can't lose cancer" yep keeping it real xxx
  11. Roy Castle ......endlessly supported and campaigned and set up a charity for Lung Cancer, a terrible disease that he also died from, he was not a smoker but passive smoking was to blame for his lung cancer. Every time I remind myself that to maintain my quit I must remain dedicated I think of Roy Castle, someone who through no fault of his own, died from a smoking related illness, surely when we are thinking of quitting and are having trouble doing it, think of all the passive smokers who may inhale some of that toxic smoke that you are breathing in their direction. You are contributing to that, does that not make you stop and think you are contributing not only to your own death but to someone elses. How ironic that Roy Castle before finding out he had lung castle, starred in Record Breakers, and the opening and closing song was "Dedication is what you need" think on this, think long and hard, its not rocket science is it.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
