  3. YAY YOU! 8 MONTHS IS AWESOME!!!
  4. Went to Step class today. My FAVORITE class!!!! Burns waaayyyy more calories(for me) than jogging, and is super fun!!!
  5. Wow! 6.4 miles is AWESOME!! :) I am supposed to be planting my garden too. It has been sooooo flippin cold this spring. I started some seedlings - but they are pretty weak. Gardening isn't my favorite thing, but I LOVE the fresh veggies!!! It's one of my love/hate relationships. :)
  6. I agree with Colleen. People run 7-9 minute miles, and I think the first time I went out it was like a 20-30 minute mile - and I didn't go close to "my hilll". :) Now, it kind of feels like a challenge when I go jog. I want to be able to post improvements. I never would have made it jogging all the way up my hill without stopping to walk if I didn't have the exercise thread and my blog to "brag" to. Some days I still can't make it up that hill without stopping. And the word "jog" is really kind of a stretch. Seriously though, I do strive to do better each time - longer distance, faster pace, no walking - whatever it may be (and not every day is a success). Getting started is the hardest part. And if we push ourselves too hard in the beginning, that is bad too, as it makes us feel miserable. Adding just a little more at a time, CONSISTENTLY, is the key, I think. Make it a priority. It takes a little effort in the beginning, but soon you will find that you are stronger than you think you are, and believe it or not, you may even start to enjoy it. YOU ARE WORTH IT!

  9. 3.1 Miles (5K) today. 46:30 Walked for a moment at the 2.0 mile mark. Went all the way up the hill without stopping. I got this band to wear around my leg, above my knee. It helped my IT band soooooo much!!! No sore knee or sore leg. Love it! First time to run without knee pain. New shoes are coming soon. Those should help too. :) Here is a pic of the hill. However, I'm not quite all the way up to the top and the last piece of the bottom is missing too.
  10. So happy you are here Rowly! Yes, you re-awoke the addiction, so the mental part will be tough, but you put that little mother right back to sleep too. Just say NOPE Rowly. What ever you do, do not smoke. If you get that overwhelming, cant get it out of your mind feeling, then put it off just for a moment. Tell yourself, " I'll have one in a minute, in five minutes, in an hour, after work." Walk around or drive around while also telling yourself that you will not smoke. Remind yourself of all the reasons you want to stay quit. Remind yourself that it does nothing, except keep the addiction alive. Welcome back. You've got this! :)
  11. Hi Gabby!!! You can do this! Like someone else mentioned, I would highly recommend Allen Carr's book The Easy Way to Stop Smoking. It is helpful to get your mind thinking positively and looking forward to being a non-smoker instead of dreading not being able to smoke. Post often and call out if you need us! Welcome to the Board! You have a wonderful smoke free life ahead. :)
  12. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!!! Just finished running a 5K!! 48:15 minutes!!!! Didn't make it up that hill without stopping today (sore legs from leg workouts Thrusday and Friday), but I only walked for a short distance for a moment and jogged the rest!!! YAY ME!! :)

  14. So sorry Rowly!!!! This happened to me. I can tell you that while it may be a little tough to get back on the quit train after relapsing, it can be done!!! You need to make the decision to never smoke again and do WHATEVER it takes to make sure that you don't put things in your mouth and light them on fire!
  15. How sweet!!! And how lucky for you to be surrounded by so many beautiful women! :)
  16. lol
  17. Salt & Pepper Pistachios and red wine are a pure match made in heaven!!! YUMMO!!!

  24. Ok - Where am I for exercise this week??? Sunday - Mother's Day. Not a lot of time today. Probably could have jogged, but I didn't. :) Monday - Still recovering from Mother's Day. LOL Tuesday - Jogged up a different hill. I don't think it is quite a steep - except for that one little part. 2.2 miles. 31.36 minutes. Didn't stop except for at the top when I turned around. I would like to get faster, but pure uphill surely must be good training. Wednesday - Barbell class Thursday - Totally Kill Me Class - I mean Total Conditioning. I am really sore today. Friday - Hmmm - let's see how I fell when I wake up. I think I may be up for a jog if the weather is nice. (I am a fair weather jogger. )

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
