  2. Welcome back! Great to hear you kept the NOPE!
  3. Scary stuff. :(
  4. You are an awesome poll person, Ms. 99!!!
  5. One year is so AWESOME!!!!! And so are you!!! You are a ton of fun, and so nice and thoughtful. We are so happy you are here!!!
  6. That is a tough situation. I want to tell everyone I see smoking that they can be free, but you just never know. I wish we had business cards. Then we could say, "This worked for me." and hand it off. Maybe they stick in in the trash, or maybe they pull up the website that day or maybe after it has been sitting in a drawer for 5 years. I told an old school friend about this site (and the other one). She has an illness, and totally wants to quit, but is fighting her way through the illness. She said she checked us out, but never logged on. What do ya do???? I emailed her more than once but she kinda blew me off. I'd love to see her join us. She'd be awesome here.
  7. AND.... (from me, the vain one) You begin losing that smoker's "hue". Your skin, hair, teeth, face, posture look healthier and happier. Unexpected benefit for sure!!! :)
  8. This is so true too!!! I have to volunteer at my kids' school on this coming Friday. I'm not really looking forward to it, cuz they are older (7 & 8 grade). However, I'm also not worried that I have to be there all evening with no time to escape to smoke. Quitting is just soooo freeing. :) It can be tough at moments - don't think it is always easy, but once you get through those first few times of unbearable cravings, it makes all the follwing ones so much easier. Every crave you defeat makes you stronger!!! :)
  9. So proud of you Armed!!! You are AWESOME!! You were a huge part of my quit, and I'm so happy you have joined us on the Lido deck! YAY YOU!!!!! :)

    Only one here

    From me too! :)
  11. Super cute pic, DD. Though of you when I was at the gym yesterday. Saw about 4 heads of purple hair. It was the purple purple though, not the pretty purple in your Avi pic. Great choice of color (from what I can see anyway). :)

  15. You look awesome, Marti! :)
  16. Great job, Sonic! Keep crushing it!
  17. YAY Jess! Stick with us. We'll march youhome! :)
  18. Not really - Mexican food is my comfort food. didn't have any of that tonight. TPBM takes showers before bed rather than in the morning (personally I am a morning shower-er. :)
  19. I voted. But I'll do it again. :)
  20. I'm a short answer kinda gal, so I'll be short. :) Unexpected benefit was that I became much more self-confident. While smoking, I always felt like "I couldn't. :( about so many things in life." Quitting made me feel like, "I can, and it feels AWESOME!!!! :) :) :) "
  21. I LOVE Armed!!! :) Never know when you're gonna need those bananas, right??? Q 3 had me stumped. :) Hope I was right!

Great to see you, Sarge! 1998 - dang, you need a new car. :)
  23. So I liked Colleen's post so much in the "gonna post the link in a bit" thread that I think it needs its own thread. Her question was, "If you could spend one day with somebody from this board, who would it be and why?" I think this question could apply to different people depending on the day, so let's keep it going. :) I'm not gonna mention my 4 besties, cuz they know who they are. I'd love to spend a day with them anytime, and they know it. :) I would like to spend a Saturday with Beacon cuz she likes to travel, and I think we'd have tons of fun exploring some random city and drinking margaritas. :)
  24. I LOVE this thread!! Tonight is salad with Bread Crumb Baked Chicken. I like panko way better, but am out of Panko. We are trying to eat a bit healthier after 5 days of restaurant and airport food.

    Car Talk

My current car is killing me in maintenance costs. We bought a name brand diesel engine SUV (used). It has 80,000 miles and keeps needing some dumbass ultra expensive maintenance. I've taken it to the dealer for service and a private shop. They both find the same problems. I googled it and sure enough, the car I bought has issues. We researched it before hand and things were ok. What a difference a few years makes (I've had it almost three years). I bought it used thinking it would hold it's value and quality. I got screwed on this one for sure.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
