Great to see you, Rob. You need to change your mindset for sure. You are still romanticizing the smoke - all that leads to is smoking again. You said you enjoy smoking and that is a lie, a trick of the addiction. What is to enjoy about smoking? NOTHING!!! It is this thinking that makes us relapse. Not to say that those feelings aren't there. Nicotine addiction is so strong. On occasion, I will still think a smoke sounds good. The hard craves to overcome are the ones when I am feeling good. "Oh, look at this beautiful day, so relaxing. I wish I could sit here in the nice warm sun and have a smoke." The problem is that I won't ever want "a smoke" I will want one after the other. When I feel like that, I think about the effects of smoking. The burn of smoke in my lungs, the scratchy throat, the cough, it returns INSTANTLY. I know. I have relapsed before. When I was a smoker, I "quit" smoking so often. Tried everything, the patch, gum, hypnosis, guilt - you name it. Now, I want to stay quit. I still drink wine, I party with my friends. On those beautiful days, I still go sit in the sun, but I sit back and enjoy the warmth on my body or take a walk. I choose to enjoy not smoking instead of dreading that I can't. Anyway, as usual, I'm rambling. Tell us a dirty joke. :)

Super cute, Nancy.

Lookin' good, Nancy!! :)

So, I feel really bad, but I really dislike all that in-home stuff. It all started with Tupperware and Avon, right? Now, it's Mary Kay, Arbonne, 31 Gifts, Scentsy, the other candle one, Siplada Jewelry, Lia Sophia jewlery, Pampered Chef (not to mention Slumber Parties and similar). I even went to one that sold like sheets and towels. No matter what the hostess says, we all feel pressured to buy. Then add shipping and tax........ I love getting together with friends, but those parties are expensive, and I always feel ripped off. I hosted a Tupperware party once and another dish/cooking one. I didn't like hosting at all. I'd rather do a cooking/dinner club. Then we eat, drink and be merry and no one needs to worry about having to buy anything. :) Or game night. Bunco or LCR. I miss that about living in a neighborhood.

yep. My eternal line was, "I just want this one, then I'll quit." Sometimes that one would get me through the next day. Sometimes I would stop and buy that single on the way home from work (not many gas stations sold them like that). I smoked some nasty stales in my lifetime. :) Sad days. Glad they are gone! :)

I love these threads. I love you quitters. :)

Ok. so I digress. I am Petra. AKA - Agent 13 - Cuz Sonic is Max, Jenny is Agent 99 and Mike is The Chief. I was missing one night from chat, but Max, The Chief and Agent 99 were there: 99-86 = 13. Agent 13 (me) wears pouka shells and a hip gun :) Colleen is an Agent too. Dammit that I can't remember her number. Just remember that she is the HOT one, and don't tell her I forgot her number! Bakon doesn't refer to this cuz he wasnt' there that night(s). :) Bakon knows German Petra and my pool flip flops. Sgt was title given to me by The Sarge when I made it to a year. :) DeLa Petra (was after Pepe Le Pew - he's my mascot). Or DiP (same Pepe LePew thing from Colleen) I think that covers all my nicknames. :) I'm an Independent, not an egg. :)

lol. This is awesome. :) New and old - our goal is the same - to quit smoking. and we all love each other for that. :) Some of us have some history and belonged to another board (Quittrain is better for sure) so we have known each other for a while. Oldies try to connect with the newbies, but all of us may have that special bond - for example, we had a group of Summer Quitters 2013. (Was it really 2013 - how time flies - anyway, I think that group bonded - as did some of the people who helped us that first day/week/month we signed on.) so ya, i'm rambling..... Newbies will create their own new bonds - some with oldies and some with newbies on the same track. Am I not making sense??? Sorry. it's hard to explain. We are just happy you are here and that you quit smoking.
-
So proud of you, ladies!!!! Keep going. :)
-
I failed - just in case you all were wondering. :) But you all are doing GREAT!!!! I still have my before pix though, so I'm gonna do something so I'll have an after. :)

I've always mostly been unscented. The smell of overpowering perfume and talc, etc has been so overwhelming to me that I avoid it. Occasionally, I use a mildly scented lotion because I use lotion every day after every shower and need a little variety. What are men attracted too??? A powerful flower, a subtle pleasant scent, or Eau Natural??? (Body odor/smelly "no shower today" smell is not attractive to anyone - for the record. :)
