  1. 2 months is AWESOME!! Congrats on the alcohol too! :) Those are two major things to give up at nearly the same time. I'm sure your brain and body are trying to sort it all out. Maybe don't worry too much about the chocolate right now, but do try to keep up with the exercise. I know that can be tough - believe me, I'm having a tough time getting my butt into the gym lately. As soon as I do go, though, I'm so happy I did it. Just getting there is 95% of the battle, so as Nike says "Just Do It'. One thing that helps me get there is just saying , "Ok. Tomorrow I am going to go run on my treadmill at 8:00, right after the kids go off to school." Then I drop the subject to myself. I don't make arguments with myself why I can't go or think of how awful it's gonna be. I just drop it, and do it when it's time. after 5 minutes of warming up, I'm so happy I made the choice to stick to my plan. Hang in there! You're doing great! :)
  2. What about Action? Where has he been?

  9. Today is 6 weeks, right? YAY GO TONI!!
  10. Great to hear you weathered the storm. :) Know that it will keep getting better and that even down the road, at 10 months or a year, we may have those moments of wanting to smoke, but it is mental and different. It's not the raw painful physical withdrawal. It's more whiny, like "Awww, I wanna smoke. Why can't I smoke." And while those feelings are real, they are easier to overcome. And don't worry about that - not everyone experiences it. So maybe your hard time is at 6 weeks, maybe 3 months, maybe 10 months, maybe 4 years. Maybe a craving will hit you randomly when you are driving down the street 7 years from now. Focus on staying quit today. You're doing GREAT!!!
  11. ^^^^^ This. :)
  12. That's too many questions for me to answer. So, I picked one. :) 10) If over a year quit, why do you continue to visit and post on QT? This place is awesome and fun. When I first quit, I LIVED on the forums! They helped me keep my quit! I'm not here as much now, but I still love to visit. It still reinforces my quit. I try to offer words of encouragement sometimes. I try to celebrate big milestones sometimes. I mostly have fun on the social side. I feel like some of my quit buddies are truly that, buddies. :) I'm probably not as supportive to newbies as much as I should be, but I fool myself that being on the social side counts toward that. :)
  13. I'm sure most dogs are fine camping, but there are probably variations. We went camping last summer at a campground which required dogs to be leashed at all times. My brother's family brought their dog too. We shared a site. Our dog was a bit new to us - we had him about a year, and we had never taken him camping. It did not go well at all! He hated being on the leash, wasn't sure about the other dog or the other people. He slept (more like stayed awake) in our tent with us, but got really cold and wouldn't lay under any blankets. He wouldn't eat. He was tired, cold, hungry and grouchy!!! It's great that your are doing a test run. Maybe try keeping him leashed during your trial run if the place you are going requires it. And maybe introduce him to any other dogs and people that you may be camping with. And maybe get a dog sweater for him if it might be cold at night - early morning. Or maybe he will be just fine, cuz he is still a happy fun little puppy. :)

    Lincoln.

I vote for Panther. :) Hot Rod Lincoln & Hottie - 2nd choice. Bakon doesn't like Panther cuz it's a cat, but I agree with Doreen - sleek, smooth, sexy... :) Meeeoooowwww! :)
  15. This doesn't mean we have to get rid of our "Eye Candy for Girls" thread, does it? :)
  16. Maybe sometimes when we feel really secure with our quits, we think, "Oh, I've got this," the addiction part of our brain kicks back in and tries to fool us into smoking again. It's a kind of like a test. The addiction is trying to pull you back in.... smelling the smoke, feeling like you want it. Tell that feeling to F-off. As we all know, if we smoke even one we will be right back to square one. Smoke stinks and is filled with noxious stinky cancerous addicting chemicals. Don't get pulled back in. One thing I used to do when I had cravings even after months of being smoke free, was to virtually smoke. I would close my eyes and put the cig in my mouth, light it, draw in the smoke. I would imagine the soggy filter burning my lips, taste the disgusting tarish flavor in my mouth, feel the thick smoke burn my throat and make my lungs tighten. I'd blow out the stinky smoke, smell it in my hair on my clothes, cough to get rid of that chronic scratchy feeling in the back of my throat. Then wish like hell I was a non-smoker that had never lit up. Then I'd be so happy, cuz I am a non-smoker now. :) I did this on several occasions, and it really did get rid of the craving. You have to vividly remember all the ickiness though - what you really hated about smoking, cuz if you remember it being enjoyable, it will have the opposite effect. You'll find yourself wanting to smoke more.
  17. I have them on occasion. The first one was bad. I woke up feeling as if I had really smoked, and really wanted to smoke for like half a day. GRRR. I have had dreams about people here, but don't even remember them now - darnnit. :) Dreams are awesome. I love them.
  18. :) AWWWW - how is our Lynn???
  19. Speaking for MQ - "Told ya so!" I'm the worst TV/Movie watcher ever. I get into it for a bit, the boom - done. Orange is the New Black - binge watched first two seasons. Watched first episode of Season 3 (i think, maybe season 4) and haven't gone back yet. Game of Thrones. I think we are on Season 4 - we haven't watched for like 2 months or more. It is a problem cuz hub & I need to watch it when the kids are occupied and hubby, and I are both available (we're trying to wait for each other to watch together - so hard!). The Walking Dead - I watched the first one and had nightmares that zombies were coming down the hill in my backyard. Watched the second one and more zombie chasing. - not for me. :) House of Cards - It's on my catch up list. :) Once Upon A Time - A good watch for the whole family. A little slow maybe. Not sure why we stopped watching. Psych - LOVE this series! So Funny! We watch past seasons on Netflix with the kids. It's all over now, but it had a great run. We haven't gotten all the way through it yet, so it is so easy and fun to just watch an episode or two all randomly. :) The Goldbergs are next on my list. Was gonna watch tonight, but got completely sidetracked. :)
  20. A reminder that I still really need to see this movie. Have you seen it? Did you like it?
  21. I found it on Amazon Prime. Season 1 is 15 bucks. Gonna check it out. :)
  22. When I first quit, we had a Summer Quitters group. It was super helpful as we supported each other and posted our milestones for each other and stuff. Maybe you already have a group like that (not sure since I am not here as often), but if not, I would highly suggest it. You could call yourself First Quarter Quitters or something.

  24. Keep the Quit, Chief. You've been with us for the long run. You know where we are. :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
