  1. I agree with the others! Go at it all positive and enjoy your party! You may even find that you don't miss it as much as you think you will! And go easy on the booze. It has destroyed many a solid quit. Tell yourself and others that you don't smoke anymore and don't want to cave and you will stay strong. On the other hand, I got through many nights hammered as nail smoke-free, so don't let being drunk be an excuse. Have fun!

  6. Between all the annoying and dividing political posts from both sides of the aisle and all the ads, I'm totally over Facebook. Looking for a fun, positive replacement. A place like our awesome Quit Train where there is a community. A place full of positivity, humor, fun, lightness. No heavy BS. Any recommendations???

  9. Come and check in Nik. We're here to help.
  10. I'm with ya, Tex. Was a total closet smoker. I would find parks and parking lots to hid in and like you would roll down the windows to air out no matter the temperature. For two years, I even hid my smoking from husband. I wasn't smoking a lot at that time, maybe 6 smokes a day. It was awful though because I was thinking about smoking all the time. Craving and waiting for that opportunity I could sneak away. So happy those days are over!
  11. Welcome, Pedro! One way to fill your new non-smoking time and distract yourself is to keep reading and posting here on the QuitTrain! There is so much information and great tips and fun and friends to make. A couple of my favorite snacks early in my quit (well, and still now) were shelled peanuts or pistachios and chips and hot salsa. Both gave me something to do with my hands and mouth to keep cigs away and the hot salsa never went well with smoke! Your appetite will mellow out and a few extra pounds is better than smoking. Try taking a walk, do yoga or other exercise for distraction, stress relief and general well-being. You're a day away from week three, which is the hardest time, so you are a successful non-smoker now! :)
  12. Fed up w/ my daughter's bf. Can't do much more than be support for her and share things to watch for from butthead. UGH! Pray for her every day.

17 Good morning, and good day. No sticking around to play number games for me today, so unless the other chicks want it, it's yours today, boys.
  17. You are ROCKING your quit!!!! Your senses are more acute now that you have stopped smoking, so not only can you smell Mr. Stinky a mile away, but you are also able to take in things that smell good and you yourself don't stink like disgusting stale smoke on your jacket!!! Enjoy the good smells!! :)
  18. I love Tex's "mantras of the day" so much that I think it should have its own thread in addition to the one Tex posts on her personal posts. (Hope you don't mind if I borrowed your idea, Tex). Post your own for the day or use the one someone else posted. No rules. :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
