  1. First, I would pay off everything we owe. Second, I would give a sum to family members. I heard a suggestion of having them sign something to the effect of, "I'm giving you X dollars and no more. If you do not manage it wisely, do not come to me for more." I would give to charities and likely start my own charity. I would hire someone to help my husband, so he could take a step back from his work and have more freedom. (He's not allowed to retire yet, cuz I'm pretty sure he would drive me crazy if he was home every day. haha!! :) I'd put away for my kids, but if they choose the party life and squander away on partying and drugs, they'll have to live with the "live clean or live without my money" rules. I'll help them get clean anyway I can. I would pay for a couple of personal image improvement procedures - namely, re-do of braces, re-do/update of Lasik procedure, personal trainer and nutritionist to keep me in top shape and lose a few unwanted fat pounds. Maybe a "hold up the boobs" procedure. Since I don't smoke, I can hold off on Botox for a while if I can eat and exercise well. :) I would spend lots of time in Southern California and Colorado, and the rest of my time traveling all over the world. I'd like to help our Country as well, but I'm not currently sure how I would do that. (I'm not giving anything to Trump, Clinton, Bush or Sanders for absolute sure!) Good Luck!!! Guess I better buy some tix!
  2. For me watching smokers made me so much more happy that I wasn't caught in that trap anymore. You can get sucked into the romance of it, but really watching them was like what Duck was saying. Watch the ugliness, the hotness of the lighter on your eyes and face as you light up, the burning on your lips, the nasty taste in your mouth, the burning as the smoke goes down your throat, the tightness in your lungs, the sick feeling in your gut, the relief when you blow all the smoke out of your body then, the stink that envelopes you, the cough that follows, the wish that you weren't addicted to this nasty evil substance. One drag from a smoke and ALL of that and even more nastiness occurs. No flucking thank you!!! Check out the hot guy eating chips & guac instead. Yum! Romanticize about that instead - even better if he is your spouse or significant other. ;) .

  5. Don't know, but my daughter asks the same question. Very good volleyball player, but 5'5". Coaches pick height over most everything else. Not to worry - lots of opportunities to play. She isn't going for the Olympics. She is on a fun team, enjoys playing and is growing - that is most important. Better to have fun playing and lose, then to not have fun playing and lose. Having fun and winning is the most fun, but some great growth can come from playing well, having fun and losing.
  6. Good 'Ole ScottinPA! Congratulations on 3 years, Scotty!!

  8. I have two random things on my mind tonight. 1) What do you think about aprons??? I actually really like them. I really only have 3 that I use frequently. My Mom gave me one for Christmas a few years ago, but it didn't have a way to stay up. I asked her to sew some straps on it for me (I unfortunately don't sew that well - yet), but haven't seen it again. I don't but them for myself because for some reason. Guess I need to tell Santa so that he can spread the word. :) 2) I enjoy quiet, dark, winter evenings after the holidays. My family has casual dinner (maybe a random weeknight), we clean the kitchen, watch TV together in the family room - it's warm in the house. They are rare nights, but no matter what else is going on, for a moment, time slows down.
  9. Our Random thread seems to have been neglected. Must be cuz Gemzee is enjoying her new married life. I know this was one of her favorites. So... It's back, The Random Thread.

  13. Welcome!!! Crazy dreams, right??? I didn't use Chantix, but still had many vivid and crazy dreams! Please keep us posted on how you're doing! Quitting smoking is awesome, and we are all happy to support you\just be here! :)
  14. So HAPPY for you!!! Way to go, Girl!! Maybe it was easier not having to go out to smoke??? Later in my smoking years, many of my friends didn't know I smoked, so whenever I would have people over, I'd try to time it ever so carefully to go out and smoke before everyone got to my house. Then, sometimes, I'd sneak away mid-party and take a few drags, being so careful to keep the smell off me, go "freshen" up in the bathroom before returning to my guests. What a nightmare! So happy to be done with that! Celebrate each non-smoking success!!! Be so happy you are done with it! YAY YOU!!! :)
  15. Happy New Year!!! I'm pretty sure this year will be AWESOME!!! I love even numbers! 20,16, 2, 0 ,6. I'll be 40, plus another even number (2, yea, that's it). I'm super excited about this coming year!! :) I'm very thankful for all of you here on the Quit Train and will stick around as long as y'all do!!! :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
