  3. Thanks again for all your support and encouragement, gang. It's been a rough few days and today in particular I found myself craving a smoke more than once. I had to remind myself that it won't help my situation... especially after I've come so far. However you, me, we are suffering, putting nicotine into our bodies ultimately packs more suffering on top of what's already there... all we have to do is remember what it was like. Not that first exciting cigarette, but all the ones that follow... being completely addicted and dependent on getting that regular dose of nicotine. Being a slave to it. Remembering that state of existence keeps me resolute in maintaining my quit.

  7. Thanks for the encouragement everyone!
  8. Thank you QuittingGirl! I've relapsed a few times around the 2 month mark... but I'm feeling resolved this time.
  9. Hi Jane, Congratulations on day 23 of your Quit. I'm curious, if it wasn't a smoke, what was it you were craving? The boiled sweet? It warmed my heart to read you were appreciating the smells. Isn't it nice how our senses clear up after a few days of being free from that pungent smoke? If you don't like what the scale says you should probably get some exercise! Your fellow Ex-Smoker
  10. It's applicable.
  11. Wow, fireworks! That's awesome, Doreensfree, thank you. - and thanks to you as well, Johnny5! This gesture has made me feel welcome here on a new level. I appreciate the encouragement from you all. We understand what we're going through in this community.
  12. Four weeks ago tonight I inhaled my last breaths of nicotine. 1 month quit and feeling good about it, overall. I get that itch about once a day, but I can quickly nullify it by remembering how it felt to be an addict... regularly needing to interrupt my life to get my nicotine fix... I remember all the unpleasant effects of the addiction and it provides me fortitude.
  13. Hey Tommy, I've quit a few times over the years, and from my experience, once the uncomfortable physical withdrawal symptoms have subsided it's a pretty enjoyable recovery. It's a matter of perspective, of course, but I want to encourage you to focus on the positive: your senses clearing up, not stinking like an ashtray, the time you gain, saving money, etc. If you're feeling depressed, the obvious question is, are you going through anything else at the moment, or is quitting the cause? If a smoke-free life is the cause of your blues, then put an end to that attitude this moment! You've freed yourself from a death trap addiction! There's nothing to mourn over. healthy body = healthy mind
  14. Hey Jane, Good for you! Try to rid yourself of nicotine in any form as soon as possible. As long as you keep putting it in you, you're fueling the addiction. Best to get that drug out of you completely. Purge your body and rejoice for your independence.
  15. I appreciate the support. Thank you all.
  16. 3 weeks today and feeling motivated!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
