Been here before. Need to quit. Sitting here smoking now. Set myself a time to quit later on today. I've got my son then for the weekend and he's never seen me smoking as I don't do it when he's with me so it will give me the weekend till Sunday evening with him, not smoking.
The time I struggle is when he goes home. I abstain every Friday till Sunday evening and then when he goes home I go running the shop for ciggies. Im at a loose end at that point. The struggle starts then. I've got the Allen Carr motivational books. I've never listened to a podcast but am looking for a good podcast series to get into. I have a gym membership I haven't used since going full time smoking again.
I've had long quits in the past so the will is in there somewhere. Every single Friday he comes to my house I think that I'll carry on the quit. Sometimes I get to the Tuesday or Wednesday without having one and then I'll crash and burn and scurry to the shop.
I really, really want to quit. The money, the hiding and the health are all the reasons needed. What else can be done. Ive been down the road before with a long quit. A massive quit for a few years. I need to kill this once and for all. Any tips much appreciated people.
Sorry, wrong thread. Can anyone move this to quit smoking discussions for me?
I will not give any advices as I am just going through my first day. However I do understand what it feels like to fail with addiction and how much we want to be clean although running to the shop later and buy a new pack. So...I wish you all the strenght and lets post everyday here. I believe in the communicty power, we all know that nicotine addiction brings abslutely ZERO positivity and kills all thebeauty inside of us.

They say those vapes are even worse than cigarettes, although I don't know why. Companies are out to make money and they don't care if nicotine is bad for us, all they want to do is "sell, sell, sell", the bottom line are their sales and how to constantly increase them. Sugar free gum is great!! Also, drink lots of water that will help flush out the toxins from your body. 1 hour clean is great, take it by the minute, if you have to. Hey, we have all been in your exact position at one time, otherwise this forum wouldn't exist...LOL!! Stick around @Dejvis93, you will make lots of friends on here. So you are from Prague? That is very cool. I have never been, but I would love to one day. My mom and one of my son's have been there and they loved it. So much history and beauty.
Vapes are absolutely worse, because you end up to puff all day long. There is no space limitations or lighting cigarette effect, you can puff all hour long, so it is so much addictive. Well, anything with nicotine is just pure evil. Best business, you get new customers quickly and most of them you have for life
Yeah Prague is great city, very nice to visit.

Nicotine in any form has a huge hold on us, otherwise none of us would be on this forum...LOL!! I read that the nicotine addiction is just as bad or even worse than someone addicted to heroin!
Although I am surprised that there is an increase in the younger generation addicted to nicotine. You would think with all the information out there for so many years on how bad it is, the young people of today wouldn't do it. Well, you certainly made the right decision! What helped me in the first couple of months of my quit was taking cinnamon sticks and making believe that I was smoking a cigarette. I would suck in air from the hole and then make believe I was blowing it out. The cinnamon really tasted nice and it would help me. I bought a package of several sticks and kept one in my handbag at all times, plus a couple around my house. They really did help. If you don't like cinnamon, you can use cut up straws. Do whatever it takes to help you.
The problem with young generation is mostly flavoured vapes, it is so spread, incredible. Companies already understand that people know about how smoking is bad for health but the main factor is nicotine so they also transformed into chewing pouches and electronic cigarettes. Anyway, i bought today loads of chewing gums sugarfree and will probably make my jews double in size tomorrow hahah. 1 hour clean now

That will definitely help to keep people from smoking! Although, there are a lot less smokers now than there were 30 years ago.
There might be a lot less smokers but lets focus on nicotine, where there is an incredible increase in use among the young generation. I believe there is even increase in general to nicotine addiction as you can see almost everyone puffing vapes or chewing nicotine pouches...It is incredible how one can hate it in one time and not be able to quit it on the other hand whie knowing all the bad things about it

Hello everyone!
in Introductions & About Us
Posted
You are actually spot on here. What has been a full time work before to battle with addiction is now gone. I am starting to feel more energy and I do realize I need to do some changes in my life and constantly improving all areas of my life. Because what this addiction did to me, was to shift my attention only to nicotine and also lower my energy. So all I did last years was trying to quit my addiction but now I can finally live my life. I never want to have these chains again in my life, ever.
