Or so I though...lol... A few weeks ago I was 'persuaded" to start running and get in shape ..the plan was to enter the "Color Run" at Cedar Point in Sept..
life threw us a curve ball and we are not entering it this year...
but still thought the idea of running to (finally) get back in shape was a good one..
So ..I was told couchto5k.com was a good place for an old bastard like me to start...
about 1 week into starting, I (re) injured my back (gives me fits for years now..) so..I slowed the work-out down to "just" walking...
It seems every Wed. Morning my back is feeling pretty good, and Thursday morning it is KILLING me...Im no expert, but I think the fact I golf in a league on Wed. evening might have something to do with it...lol...
anyhow, this week after golf it was feeling pretty good and so I decided to pick up the pace and run this morning...
I actually ran (and walked some) a whole 5k.. on a walking/biking path that is just a 1/4 mile from my house...
My property ajoins a park that I cut across that leads to the path...
I know there is room for a lot of improvement, but I am pretty happy with todays stats...
3.05 miles (ok...a little shy of 5k)..
duration...36:24
pace..11.56 min/mile
1st mile... 11:22
2nd mile.. 11:54
3rd mile..12:23
I use map my run app on my phone so I can keep a record of this...its cool to see the improvement..
HOWEVER...no matter how in shape I THINK I am getting in...Mother Nature knows the truth...
as I got back to the park after my run this morning, this is what was waiting there to greet me.....it seems I cant fool mother nature about the condition I am in, and she was standing by and ready for me to drop over...lol
yep...the buzzards were circling..lol...
seriously though...Its amazing how good I feel after a run...I seem to have more energy for the day!
