no DD..anything on the + side is correct...and the larger the number the more credibility it has of being correct...with that said... I am totally confused also.... :wacko2: 14
  4. this is always a hotly debated subject between me and my brother-in-law..i quit smoking 10 months ago....when anyone congratulates me, he is quick to point out that HE quit smoking 1 1/2 years ago......he is casually making that statement while sucking vapor into his lungs ....and no...he hasn't stopped the nicotine..he still uses "juice" with 18mg nicotine....but...(according to him)..he quit smoking, and has no intentions of quitting vaping because he likes the flavor and without the tars and other chemicals cigarettes have, they are completely safe (his words)...sounds to me like his addiction is still controlling him....he doesn't agree with me.. anyhow...I REALLY think something should be done to stop the production and use of these devices...its just another way to get kids (and adults) addicted to nicotine....if ..for some reason my BIL cant get his "juice"...I guarantee he will by a pack of cigarettes when the addiction comes knocking and he has no way to quiet it down :( ..so what did he quit?... its like the drug addict that snorts it instead of shooting it up because its safer that way...in the end, it doesnt matter...he justifies what he does so he can get his "fix" with less guilt.. As you can tell, I am not a fan of vaping..I suppose if it was used as a NRT ..well..maybe, but ...so far, anyone I have met that vapes, has no intention of quitting...its just another addiction

  16. Hi Wendy...welcome aboard.. i can offer you a bit of advise that might have helped the first time...... Now that you have joined the site, dont just lurk....PARTICIPATE ..read and post anytime you feel the need.. You may be aware of our S.O.S board...anytime you feel as though you just cant keep the quit going..post an SOS and hold off on lighting up until you have received at least 3 responses...This Board is active and someone will hear your shouts for help and try to be there for you... 4 days is quite the start..way to go!! remember..studying isnt why you had to quit again.....it is because you smoked... you can control that..just dont light up..you will see posted here quite often N.O.P.E...= Not One Puff Ever !! with that in mind, I can GUARANTEE that you will never smoke again..how-ever..you have to follow N.O.P.E. its great you are having an easier time of it, but dont let the addiction fool you into thinking its so easy, I can do it again... You will have some easy days..and some bad ones..the longer you stay quit, the less the bad days come around...
  17. Way to go Tracey!!.. I am amazed at how far into our quits the "fall quitters" are getting!.. You have (and continue) to inspire so many others....keep doing what you do! You have often put a smile on my face..you are a positive person!! :) CONGRATS!!
  18. Wow...the new members we attract are SOOOOOO smart!!! Beth came to that conclusion after only a few pm's... I am glad you made your way here and posted your intro... You will find us a welcoming bunch!... I know you said you are shy, but we will help you feel comfortable here...just post whenever you feel like it, and if we dont hear from you in awhile, a search party will be sent to make sure your still OK :)
  19. I agree...that is usually what we did..the Jeep was the first "new" car we ever bought...the Chevy was a mistake..lol When I bought the Fusion, I went to the dealership to buy a used one they had advertised..i decided not to buy it because I didnt like the interior...(with only 6K miles it was already looking bad)..how-ever, I have access to fords "A" plan..the sales lady did a little quick figuring and initially the price was the same or less than the used one was...so I decided to buy a new one..she was shocked when I told her i wasnt buying it from her...lol..i figured when I went to look at the used one, there was no decisions to be made except to buy it or not...with a new one, color and options are all choices, and if it was going to be my wifes car, I was going to let her make those choices...the sales lady wanted to know what she had to do to make a sale that day?..(get your minds out of the gutter..lol)..I told her she had to make me an offer I couldn't refuse..If I was going to make choices for the wife, there had better be a good reason...lol ..(she was working)....with the "A" plan, the price was set, so no negotiating on that..but she kept throwing in dealer options (lots of different extended warranties) and kept giving more and more for the Cobalt..in the end I ended up paying less for the Fusion that I did the Cobalt when it was new...and on another note..I am "only" 53 and retired in January...I am certain I will have another car payment sometime in the future...lol..my cars last a long time, but not THAT long :)
  20. I will try to condense this..lol.. I currently drive a 1997 jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo we bought it new...and it is now 17 years old with 210,000 miles...Ive never had no real issues with it..its got to be the most dependable car /truck I have ever owned.. It started life as the "family truckster"..it was the wifes that she used primarily to pick the girls up from practices, or to haul the family around when we all went the same direction ;) .. After it served that duty, and the wife got something new (in 2008)..the Jeep went to my daughter until she graduated Kent St..then Ohio St (grad studies) and she got a big girl job and bought her own car (Honda)... The Jeep came back home (4 years ago) and I have been driving it ever since.. I have since traded in the wifes car for a new (2014) Ford Fusion..I wanted a Taurus, but couldnt justify the price tag :( ... The wife keeps on me about getting something new...to be honest, I am quite happy with the old Jeep..it doesnt have any rust (hard to believe for an Ohio car)..and runs great and has never let me down..i figure it has no trade-in value, so why not run it until it doesnt run any longer...:) We do tend to keep our cars for a long time compared to others...like I said, we still have the Jeep after 17 years, and the only reason I got rid of the wifes 2008 was it was a piece of crap...seriously...It was a Chevy Cobalt I bought for her to run around town and back and forth to work...between the recalls, and all the trips back to the dealer to fix things (thankfully I got the extended warranty)..I got rid of it as soon as i thought it was worth trading in...it only had 40k miles..for 7 years, thats pretty low... I plan on having this Fusion until the year 2045..whatcha think..will it out last me? I think I have pics of both..let me see .. Here is the Fusion right after I bought it..just before Christmas last year... pay no attention to that mustang following me..lol..this is the only pic I have loaded that has my Jeep in it..i was using it to pull my mustang around from the back garage to the front one to work on it...some day i will have that back together and the mustang will become my daily driver ;)

  22. come-on..you knew that wouldn't happen .. I will go out on a limb and say they are getting better....but, as bad as they were..it didnt take much to improve.. defense looked weak..even though we held em to 23 points...BUT..the offense has NOTHING..cant even run out a clock properly!
  23. ahhh...ya see Bakon...In Ohio, everyone lives in one of three "areas".. Either you are "from Ohio, near the Lake"..... or You are "from Ohio, near the River"..... or you are "from Ohio, near Columbus"..thats all anyone needs to know...lol Now..while its true I am somewhat close to Rez (and Tracey).. we are both "near the Lake"....but still a couple hours apart, but... Sarge is "near the River"..I would have to stop for lunch if I was to take off some morning for a visit..I would probably stop in the Columbus area ;) :P Pennsylvania on the other hand is broke up into only 2 sections... Someone is either from Philly..(which is "known" for a multitude of things)... or They are simply from Pennsylvania... I guess if your not from Philly, it doesnt matter where in Penn. you live :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
