  1. have it ready....7 1/2 months to go!
  2. I was wondering if we could have something like the "Hall of Fame" on the Quittrain? Or maybe a "Hall of Fame wagon"? So you quit for 365 days and you enter the "Hall of fame" here. Or something similar (please no boats)!
  3. Quitting brings grown men to their knees and leaves a lot of us in total confusion. We are very close in our quit dates and I know how you feel. The voice in your head is whispering “is it all worth it”? We are at a point in our quit where so many people just give up…and neither you or me will be one of them! We are getting close to the 100 day mark, it’s like a “Hall of fame” for ex smokers.......and we will celebrate this special milestone…you first…then me!“ We refuse to give up…we have come too far! Don’t you forget that…just hang on tight with everything you got. Do not listen to those voices telling you it isn't worth it. Kind of like the evil on one shoulder and the good on the other. Know that this is a temporary thing…you are way too strong! Chin up….and keep marching forward! Don't stop...because I would run into you :-)
  4. S.N.O.T. Smoking is not an option today

    HAT

I hope you are alright HAT...let us know please!
  6. TPAM likes audible books :-)
  7. we can't play if you don't make a wish :-)
  8. A tread about healthy eating............I would love that Scott! I changed our way of cooking and eating a few years back. There comes a time, when you realize that you just can't handle food anymore the way you did when you were young. I love to cook and my husband loves to eat...it'a a dream combination :-) He has high blood pressure and he was a little bit overweight...and I realized that I harm him with the way I cook.....so I educated myself and I learned a lot about food, food labels, Oils, organic food, healthy side dishes, carbohydrates and so on. I changed our diet and we both hated it lol. I wasn't born as a rabbit....so why eat like one? Eating healthy is fine, but requires more planing and cooking. I love to eat....and love good food. Healthy food can be good and very tasteful (better be or I am not going to touch it) you just have to be willing to give it a try.
  9. Scared me...thought I had logged onto the wrong place.... Looks great thank you!
  10. I smoked 20 cigarettes a day for 35 years. I started when I was 15 and stopped 2 months ago!
  11. We bought too many plants...digging holes today :-)

    1. Markus

      Markus

We want to put in a couple of trees. Do you anyone who like to dig holes? Should we get a dog?

  12. For the first time ever.................I am honored to start the pledge! N.O.P.E Not one Puff Ever! because we don't smoke anymore, it's that simple!
  13. Key facts Tobacco kills up to half of its users. Tobacco kills nearly 6 million people each year. More than five million of those deaths are the result of direct tobacco use while more than 600 000 are the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke. Unless urgent action is taken, the annual death toll could rise to more than eight million by 2030. Nearly 80% of the world's one billion smokers live in low- and middle-income countries. Consumption of tobacco products is increasing globally, though it is decreasing in some high-income and upper middle-income countries. Leading cause of death, illness and impoverishment The tobacco epidemic is one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced, killing nearly six million people a year. More than five million of those deaths are the result of direct tobacco use while more than 600 000 are the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke. Approximately one person dies every six seconds due to tobacco, accounting for one in 10 adult deaths. Up to half of current users will eventually die of a tobacco-related disease. Nearly 80% of the more than one billion smokers worldwide live in low- and middle-income countries, where the burden of tobacco-related illness and death is heaviest. Tobacco users who die prematurely deprive their families of income, raise the cost of health care and hinder economic development. In some countries, children from poor households are frequently employed in tobacco farming to provide family income. These children are especially vulnerable to "green tobacco sickness", which is caused by the nicotine that is absorbed through the skin from the handling of wet tobacco leaves. 14. I am glad you are here I am glad you are back I am glad you guys had a great vacation but above all I am glad you are a non smoker :-)
  15. I agree with Markus....go outside go for a run or a brisk walk...get your mind of it. Exercise and if you have one around....go hit the bag it's fun! I bought me punching bag around week 3 and I am having a ball! If I would be younger I would sign up for boxing lessons ...that's a killer training!
  16. I am glad you did :-) You had me thinking about my "lighter emergencies". I either had 10 lighters around or none. I remember I tried to light a cigarette with a toaster....it didn't work...but killed the toaster :-) I went through every drawer in the kitchen trying to find those matches...that I threw out 5 years ago :-) I need to read this often ....I made a total fool out of myself...just because I wanted to smoke! I never want to be this person again
  17. Oh Donna your story made me laugh, I can picture you driving around with a candle in the car......just so that you could smoke...thank you for sharing!
  18. ...did I overlook a wine thread????? If so my apologies..if not...now we have one :-)
  19. I am not sure if you posted today, haven't seen my glasses in a while so I might have overlooked a post (not to myself..buy glasses to find the glasses) How are you guys doing?
  20. I don't think she is cheating Marti, a lot of smokers think they quit....when they actually didn't. I talked with a lady a while back, she thinks she quit, because she slowed down....and she really believed it! I was furious over it and Daisy (hope the name is correct) replied to my post. She too had a friend who was in total denial and thought she quit, because didn't buy cigarettes anymore - just smoked other people's cigarettes :-)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
