  1. But it was was fruit and not a cookie. For a Saturday, for me, that is progress.
  2. I tried that with MQ last year but he was too nice, I fear you may be as well. Haha. I have eaten some dried apples for breakfast. High 5?
  3. I have even upgraded to a polar watch so's I can see how many cals I am *truly* burning when working out. I am always hijacking your poll threads huh.
  4. Kind of - there are other perimeters but by and large it's pretty straightforward. They bust your chops if you aren't doing what you are supposed to. And it's like $27/month only. (He has customers all over the world.) I think it's based on the ideology that what gets measured, gets done. And no days off of exercise, which I don't care about that, it's just giving up Mr. ice cream sandwich, Ms. licorice, etc. I gotta get this sweet tooth under control.
  5. I saw something like this on a back window the other day - probably the only thing I would consider putting on my Element.
  6. ** I do, however highly rec "Bumper Cars." Here is a cute live version. These kids are the future of music.**
  7. Totally normal for your mind to play tricks on you like this. That junkie is trying to flail his arms and say 'hey what about me? if you try this you can appease me and still not be doing anything wrong.' Trying to lure you back in. That nasty SOB But it wouldn't do anything for you without the nic - that is why cigs have nic and all that crap in them. You may as well suck on a straw. I would, at times, hold and imaginary cig in my fingers and inhale oxygen in the same way I used to smoking. (Stole that move from the woman in the movie "Looper.") It ended up having the same calming effect as deep breathing, so that would be the way to go that I personally know works. But don't worry! A lot of us went back and forth, it's a realllly confusing time - addiction SUCKS. Best to break away now and be done with it. It's not always easy Jen, but just remember it's so worth it and you deserve to be happy and healthy.
  8. Several people at my office have lost a TON of weight and rave about it. I guess the deal is, they give you the what for if you don't follow the program. That Tony was a really really nice guy, but when I said that everyone laughed and said, 'not for long!' Which is what I need I think. I gained and lost the same 5 lbs all year. And that is all the further I made it.
  9. Weird! I just clicked on a link on the page and pasted that instead, that seems to be working.
  10. It can be (and was for me) hard at first, but I promise it gets easier. And it's so worth it. Remember to pat yourself on the back for doing this, it's so important! Smokers and non smokers don't understand what you are going through, but ex smokers do. Being around people that can empathize can help so much.
  11. So I just started this - you get three days at the beginning to eat whatever you want so long as you count and report everything. My three days are up, so today is officially my start day of this diet. I need to lose 10 on the DL and lay off the @#$#ing cookies. This diet does not allow cheat days, so it's on. Eeek. http://www.meanestmanindieting.com/Our-Story.html
  12. If you can do 2 weeks, you can do anything! Very well done Rooster.
  13. Fantastic! Great job Sarah. Before you know it, it will be a year.
  14. Yay DF!! Great job. 6 months is huge. You should be very happy with yourself.
  15. Fantastic work! Glad you are here. You are doing great.
  16. You are awesome! I am so happy for you :)
  17. Days like that suck! I just tell myself to keep my head down and power through it. If it's any consolation, you have people all over the world in your corner. There are many good videos, this one I just can't stop coming back to. Because I dreaded the day that I would be told the info that I have {insert horrific fatal disease, most likely cancer, including but not limited to a fun voice box to speak} caused by smoking. I thought I was powerless to avoid it. I am SO glad we got our heads out of the sand. Even if we do get that dreaded disease and it was due to smoking, at least we know we stopped. We finally did something right for ourselves.
  18. Yes we can all be Jens! The world is full of Jens. :D
  19. Who?
  20. Marti - really a fantastic job, well done. Love your posts and so happy for your freedom.
  21. I've always been grouchy
  22. I just finished this yesterday - it was a very good memoir. The author is on twitter and quite lovely and even gave a shout out to quit train!
  23. Gabby you have shown some real strength and never gave up, you are a continuing inspiration. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. Many congrats to you.
  24. Nicely done! Too bad I didn't see you in chat ((waggles eyebrows)).

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
