  1. Oh my gosh, you never listen to me. Tony Dean's FAST. I've lost 10 lbs in the last month. But since I was 5 lbs heavier than I thought I was, you could count it as 5. 5 to 7 lbs to go!
  2. Markus I may be completely misinterpretting your post but I kind of took it as, 'why has the world went to heck in a handcart.' In which case, I'm with you, it's a shame.
  3. All very true stuff. It was very cold here last night as well, but I had to run to Ulta to grab a handful of necessities. I was walking quickly as possible in and out, and wondered for the thousandth time, how I could have stayed outside and smoke in frigid temps.
  4. Happppppppy birthday! Hope you are doing lots of fun stuff.
  5. Here we go. J/k. Sugar gets a bad rap. Who the heck eats a 'third of a cookie.' I do like what he said about fiber and protein, that kind of validates the program I'm on. Matter of fact I was planning on an orange, egg beaters, and multi grain toast for brunch. There's my input.
  6. Ok that poses a hypothetical, the 'guy' can be switched to 'girl' if any males want to answer: So would you rather date a guy that's dead broke with no employment options in sight, but decent teeth and hygiene...or someone who's gainfully employed but missing several teeth in front, due to an aversion to flossing and dentists?
  7. C'mon over, we'll drink until sun up.
  8. I am so glad you are talking through this! That speaks volumes for your commitment to being happy and healthy. Jenny is right, this is a common thing to happen around this time in a quit. And you are right too, one foot in front of the other. It's easy to forget the bad stuff. I think the 'romancing the cig' thread might help you right now as well. We got your back!
  9. Love it!
  10. Listen here bub, a little sympathy would be nice. And it's only cold here, not snowed in. I don't swim with her. I have like 800 books on my kindle I'm behind on.
  11. No! That one was too sad. It just....too much.I can't.
  12. Yes you will! Might not be the easiest thing in the world, but it's literally a life and death crossroads. Stay tough!
  13. Yes I'm quite behind on Netflix but I am ok with that
  14. Agreed with Doreen, read anything you can from Allen Carr online. If you can, go for a run, that releases endorphins that really help. Or else just do some cardio, can't work out and smoke at same time. Eat some chocolate, drink some fruit juice. Post, vent, yell, whatever you need to do! We have all been there. You can do this.
  15. Just watched the episode where she told Lizzie to look at the flowers. My gosh that just tears a person up inside. Devastating.
  16. Hang in there! We are here for you through this. Reading or watching YouTube vids on the addiction helps when a craving hits
  17. I remember a time when I was scared to death I couldn't get thru a night that I had trouble sleeping (which I always seem to have this issue weekend nights) without craving all night long. It seemed insurmountable. Now? I just have a diet cherry 7 up and that is more than enough. That "void to fill" was a bit of a challenge for me, but it quietly goes away. Nope.
  18. I'm so outta the loop. To me, "Mama's Family" is a funny favorite. True story.
  19. Yes! I wanna go, except for the mud. This is today here, and I could not find one single person who wanted to go with me. Sigh. So I'm not going to do it. But I'm going to the gym super early instead: http://trekupthetower.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Trek-Up-the-Tower-Toolkit-2015.pdf
  20. Well said. I had always equated smoking with "better times" when I was "younger." To me, my previous relapses always were a long time coming because I had confused smoking and good times as one and the same. Once I finally got my head on straight, and realized they were good times DESPITE my smoking not BECAUSE of it, things got so much easier. I had myself firmly convinced that I was just one of the unlucky people with an addictive personality and I was now just stuck being a smoker for life. Allen Carr was kind enough to explain me through that load of phooey too, I cannot recommend his books enough. Whenever I felt isolated or left out during my first part of my quit (junkie thinking), I'd turn on that audible or grab the book-I could start reading any section at any time I was challenged- and I was extremely comforted.
  21. Joe! You have your woman there, and you have your women here. And the guys too. Everybody loves you! Congrats.
  22. **falls over, dead.** The instructor kept trying not to laugh at me & telling me how I was doing things wrong, but he didn't show us, just said what to do. (Weighted burpie push ups!? 300 jackknifes? Really?) I must have been the only new person. The girl I went with was like, 'why are you smiling like that? No one should be smiling in the middle of this.' But my smile was more manic than anything.
  23. So I've been working out most days for years, and at a much greater intensity since I quit smoking. I decided I'd join in on a boot camp tonight. I have been doing Insanity lately, and do several diff Bob and Jillian videos. It was kind of humbling, I felt like a real a**. Not as fit as I thought I was (and I ran 3 miles at lunch today). It was harder than Insanity for sure. I hate push ups. Anyone find themselves in this type of situation?
  24. Rob you are doing fantastic. You are right where you need to be. This is so important and you are succeeding. Very well done.
  25. Many congrats!! Very good job Sarah!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
