  1. Congrats! Running is way better than smoking. 6 months is huge!
  2. He sounds like a good guy. It's just unfortunate his addiction put that burden on the rest at the end. Smoking...there is just nothing good about it.
  3. So I am not proud that I haven't kept up, but it's my work schedule. It's bananas. I'm on day three but I've been running 3-4x / week. 0700 for a free hour long run tomorrow sponsored by FAST diet. (And no, not lost the 5 lbs yet. What a shame.)
  4. Congrats Evelyn. Think of how far you have come! Proud of you.
  5. You crack me up.
  6. WTG Tracey! You are awesome. Very well done.
  7. Right on! That's how it's done. Me too, I'm in forever club also. It's the only place to be.
  8. Awesome! Congrats. Freedom is yours.
  9. Isn't it an amazing feeling to do what you never thought was possible?
  10. Those pics are so great Nancy. Excuse me if I say your dad was quite the looker. :)
  11. Ummm...
  12. Oh yeah! I still on occasion will dream that I'm smoking, and then I'm like, 'wait, what?'
  13. This will be the first year in 10+ years I will have the day after Thanksgiving off. (New job, the company I work on site at is closed.) Yahoo. So the possibilities are endless. May end up just getting caught up on sleep.
  14. TEW today is a huge day for you! If you don't do it today, promise you will do something tomorrow for yourself. You should be tap dancing on the roof ;) you are FREE from being an addict.
  15. Happy Birthday C!! Road trip to your house!
  16. You nailed it--smoking kills self esteem at the same time as it physically kills you. It's a BAD business. No doubt about that. There are no pros. Allen Carr's old saying that I'm going to paraphrase again here,: the ex smoker holds all the cards. There are no smokers that truly want to be smokers, and no non smokers that want to be smokers. For 20 years that stupid addiction was in some way part of every decision I made. At times I'm still amazed I got free, and at times I cannot believe that I used to smoke. 2.5 years ago, but it seems like a lifetime.
  17. Sharon Siff posted a heartbreaking video on fb yesterday, but it inspired me to volunteer as a 'friend to the elderly' for people without much family or friends that can visit. I submitted the application last night and just waiting to hear back. Only 1-2 hours a week on weekends. Side note, it will be nice not to have to worry about showing up smelling like stale smoke once I start.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
