  4. I felt proud to be part of this group and I'm really happy for all the Summer quitters that reached the year mark!
  5. 1 Hi Betsy
  6. Drive defensively; never assume the other drivers will obey the traffic rules.
  7. 3 I have now, thanks!
  8. It's not a command.
  9. No, but I have a rich inner dialogue with myself. The inside me is far more interesting than the outside me. Why do restaurants think I would like cold French fries (chips)?

  11. Small glass of cold fruit juice. Quick walk. Crossword puzzle. Whatever - don't let yourself get fixated, stay busy.
  12. I have three that are only indoors. It is much safer for them. We play with them to give them some stimulation and exercise and they chase each other. Better than being hit by a car. They sleep about 14 hours per day.
  13. 3 Good morning
  14. Happy Birthday, have fun!
  15. Reading that nicotine had changed my normal brain chemistry to make it addicted to nicotine. I found it easier to quit once I understood I had a smoking habit driven by a nicotine addiction. It made it easier to pick out junkie rationalizations and know they were lies.
  16. Hooray! Only forward now! Craves don't really last very long, wait them out, or better yet, tell them to go away! In three days or so, nicotine and it's breakdown products will be clear or your body.
  17. Sorry about the AC but glad the move is over and congratulations on 18 months!
  18. The cats are getting anxious!

  21. http://www.quittrain.com/topic/2008-quit-tool-boxes/ Here's your toolbox post. I know you won't smoke Tracey, from the looks of your toolbox, when a smoking thought pops up just say, "I don't want to smoke."
  22. The quicker you dismiss these thoughts the easier it will get. Make it a game with yourself; when your mind suggests a cigarette immediately respond, "smoking's not an option", or "I don't smoke". Use whatever phrase that has power to you. Don't engage these thoughts and waste time with them. The nicotine addiction feeds on emotion so work on controlling your emotions (hard to do I know). I think you wrote a post about tools you can use, maybe have a look at that again. And remember we are all with you, use our collective strength if you need it.
  23. Walk proud!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
