  2. Great job SanDar! Congratulations!
  3. Thanks everyone! I have been learning about and making sourdough bread this year. I usually make 2 – 4 loaves, keep one and give the others away. They cost about $ 0.75 to make (no value given to my time). People have been happy to get them because they taste good and it saves them $ 5.00. Giving the bread away gives me more chances to practice my bread making. Learning to quit smoking can be like learning to make bread. There are lots of things to learn about it on the Quittrain. Each day you can practice and it saves not only money but also your life. Teaching others will help you train yourself. I’ve been listening to this while I do laps at the gym. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2Wv57dzcU0

  14. New better normal are powerful words in reshaping your life. I wish I could remember who gave them to me. I know they appeared at just the right time for me to help break an old bad habit. Enjoy your new space.
  15. One of the keys for me!
  16. One year I was working for a somewhat famous British professor in university labs along with a brilliant Japanese post-doc researcher. The professor came around at least once and usually twice per day for a status update; all who worked for him came to dread these meetings (one of many lessons of how not to manage people he taught me). When he asked my friend what he was doing, he replied with a sharp, “Continuing effort!”, and went back to work. The professor stood there blinking, perhaps expecting more detail, but nothing more was forth coming. The rest of us in the lab cracked up in silent amusement and would use the phrase to encourage each other when the professor was particularly harsh. I never used the phrase with that professor and no one else did either, but I have had occasion to use it on other micro-managers I’ve dealt with. In the middle of your quit, perhaps the best answer you can give yourself is, “Continuing effort!”.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
