  1. Yeah, sometimes quitting is a zen flow sorta thing. And sometimes it’s a brawl and you just wanna shout “Get offa me!” You are making great headway. Smack those cravings away and march on toward freedom!
  2. Bri, your story is proof positive that we are A D D I C T S. We are susceptible. I am glad you did not light up, but the fact that you even put it to your lips means that part of you is still romancing the smoke, yearning for it. Good move to destroy everything. Give yourself a big ol…
  3. Take good care, Stew. All of us here are cheering you on!

  6. Hi, @Stewbum. Gosh, you have been through the grinder! I am so sorry for the trauma you are going through. Well done on defending your quit… anger and feelings of helplessness are big triggers, but your commitment is up to the task! I’m sorry to learn that your wife suffers. Alcoholism is a disease that takes a terrible toll on spouses and loved ones, as well as the addicts, themselves. So much chaos. But “first things first”… keep your quit and help yourself heal from your cardiac procedure. Hang in there!
  7. Great positive attitude @MLMR. I especially love the gratitude. It’s one of the biggest differences between abstinence and true recovery. Let the healing begin.

  10. Doing great! Keep rolling!
  11. Happy birthday @Gus!! I guess your mom took the “labor” part quite literally!
  12. Sorry to hear the diabetes news, B. I’ve had to smack down some of my own craving temptations lately. Work totally sucks for me right now, and I’d like to pickle those feelings by smoking. But I won’t. We shall persevere together!
  13. You are breaking free of a terrible bondage. It may feel sad and panicky now, like you are losing a limb. But that is an illusion, just your addiction putting up a fuss. The pain is temporary, it will pass, sweet freedom awaits on the other side. You are gaining so much. Keep smoking off the table and lean into the hundreds of other things you can do with this moment, then the next. The moments add up. You can do this.
  14. Congrats on a good launch to your quit! I, too, found that keeping busy and distracted was essential for the first few weeks… I definitely needed a channel for all that antsy energy. But the tasks had to be pretty simple due to brain fog, LOL. Lotsa small chores around the house!
  15. Yeah, the urge to smoke can ambush us at really strange times… that’s the nature of addiction. Sometimes it’s an obvious trigger, but other times it’s more random and sneaky. You did the right thing by posting here and talking it through. 50 days is a lot of hard work and a great foundation. Stay strong and don’t throw it away!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
