  1. Well done, @AceWhite. So glad you escaped the smoking penalty box!! Congrats on your two years.
  2. Good job, SP. Quitting can, indeed, goof up your sleep patterns - and so can the patch. (Talk about bizarre dreams!) But it doesn’t last forever. Staying busy and distracted is a good plan. One day at a time and you’ll soon be FREE!
  3. Great to meet you, @Slow progress! Congrats on giving those smokes the heave-ho. I, too, quit after more than 40 years of smoking. At first I thought I could never be happy without cigarettes. But it turns out that feeling of “I’m going to be miserable forever” is an illusion… it’s something our addiction does to put up a fuss about withdrawal. It’s not accurate. Smoking was NOT our true friend, because real friends don’t bind us in chains, mess with our heads, then slowly try to kill us. It takes a while to recalibrate, but it IS possible! And there are a lot of good people here to help. Keep at it, and let us know how you are feeling day by day.
  4. 6. When I am using glue, I do it on a paper plate to protect the table.
  5. (Ow!) Call the doctor.

  11. Well done, @overcome! You’re building a fantastic quit, buddy! Congrats on 6 months!
  12. Glad you’re still here. Hang tough… it gets better.
  13. LOL @beazel, love the image of your rocking out to Bohemian Rhapsody. (Bizmillah No!!) Driving wasn’t my trigger, but sitting out on my back porch was, still is. One thing I did to break the association was to sniff my butt jar - a nasty old mustard jar that I used to cram full of cigarette ends. It smelled totally foul, even to a smoker’s nose. Anyway, I kept it for about 6 mos and when I would get a strong craving I’d crack it open and take a whiff. Super gross, DIY aversion therapy. But now I’m thinking that serenading the squirrels might be the next thing to try.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
