  1. Thank you so much Garry. My sister lives in Surprise, AZ, not too far from you. Pretty place. Anyway, thank you for the welcome. This time my quit will stick. It just feels different, somehow. Can’t explain it. Wish I could have done it sooner but I guess God had different plans for me; and I trust Him.
  2. Yes, I’m healing slowly. But it took many years to get where I was, so I can’t complain about the slow healing process. He said 8 weeks and it’s only been four, so I need to be patient. I’m just happy to be cancer free and smoke free at last. Lesson learned the hard way.
  3. Thanks, Sunnyside.  I’m not too far behind you.  We can do this.

    1. Sunnyside

      Sunnyside

We certainly can do this 💪 😁

  4. Congratulations on one month.  It feels great, doesn’t it?  This one is going to stick for me, I can feel it in my bones.  It’s just different somehow.  Maybe it’s because I lost half a lung.

im going to believe that it’s going to stick for you, too.  Just keep on keeping’ on.  👏🏼

  5. Congratulations, Sunshine. I was one month smoke free on the tenth. Still no desire to pick one up. Triggers, yes. How could their not be after 64 years of smoking. But no desires. Has to be God’s mercy because I couldn’t do it myself.
  6. ……..Besides, I don’t have time to smoke. I spend too many hours a day trying to figure out this website! I finally made a ticker after a week and a half of trying. Unfortunately, I’m still struggling with the rest of it; like replying to posts. I want to thank everybody who has replied or spoken to me. I’m still floating around trying to read/find replies to thank people. Am I really this dense or am I in a brain fog from not smoking? Anybody?
  7. Welcome! I am new as well. If I can do it after 64 years a smoker then anyone can. 17 days is a great start. I’m not far from where you are. Do I THINK of them? Yes! Do I WANT one? No! That’s how I have to keep answering my craves. You wouldn’t be here if you still WANTED to smoke, right? So just keep reminding yourself of that. I’m home recuperating from lung cancer surgery. Lost half a lung. Don’t end up where I am. No fun. Keep posting and especially reading. We can do this. YOU can do this.
  8. I don’t see a step 4 through 6.
  9. Found the ticker I want, made it, but saw no further instructions as to how to get it on my profile?
  10. NOPE!!
  11. Thank you everybody so much. I’ve been out of the hospital a couple days, now. The recovery is painful but he’s sure he got it all. Smoke free for one week today. Urges are grueling but hanging in there. Thanks again for all your kind words.
  12. I’m having a little trouble maneuvering this board, so if I fail to reply to someone, please know it’s not intentional. I’m peddling as fast as I can.
  13. I think you’re right, Kris. I guess I’m not thinking clearly right now. I guess I will start the patches after surgery. I’ll ask my doctor how soon I can. At least I have them at the ready. Thanks for reminding me,
  14. Thanks, Jillar.
  15. Hi! I’m Judi. I’ve been smoking for 63 years! I am 77. I was just diagnosed with lung cancer. I’m am going into the hospital next Thursday to have the upper lobe of my left lung removed where the tumor is. They caught it early; stage one. Obviously, I need to quit smoking immediately? I don’t even remember not being a smoker. I’ve tried many many times over the years to quit; to no avail. Im reaching out for any help I can get. I’ve purchased patches I will be starting tomorrow. Im hoping speaking with others may help. I need all the support I can get, Thank you for listening.
  16. I find the more I talk about it, the more I want to smoke. Thought I would take a break to see if that would help. This is soooo hard!
  17. Yes, definitely an addiction but also a very nasty habit.
  18. Well, that’s mighty close for sure. I started at 14 and quit at 76; total smoking life 62 years. I’ve been told it doesn’t matter how long you’ve smoked but I totally disagree. The longer you have a habit, the harder it will be to break. That’s how it works for me, anyway. I guess I should only speak for myself. But I’ll make it. I’m determined!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
