  2. Action! Your awesomeness is freakin' AWESOME!
  3. Oooops....wrong thread. Wrong page. Wrong site? LOLOLOLOL How about this one: :D
  4. Excellent, fantastic, beautiful!
  5. Way to go, Petra! You've been with me from the beginning, and I really appreciate you and your solid quit!
  6. Hiya, Caroljo! Good to see you took the leap! Here's some reading material....LOL...as promised. http://www.quittrain.com/topic/11-where-do-i-start-the-newbie-database/ The first couple of days of my quit, I spent A LOT of time on the board. Reading, and posting, took my mind off smoking, and I learned so much it changed my whole outlook. Instead of losing something, I realized I GAINED....my freedom. Freedom from addiction. You'll see that, after the first few days, it's mostly a mind game....especially once you've given up the e cigs, and all the nicotine has left your body. I couldn't imagine driving, or talking on the phone, or sitting on the deck, or doing a hundred other things, without a cigarette. Now...I can't imagine doing those things WITH a cigarette. I smoked for 50+ years, and I haven't a clue as to why. I gained NOTHING from smoking, but lost so much....time, money, self respect, health.... Welcome to freedom. :)
  7. I know what you mean, Gem....I feel exactly the same way. It's great, isn't it?
  8. It's MIDNIGHT and I can't find my glass slipper, so I'm going to bed. Good night, peeps! :)
  9. For me, the push I needed was a really bad case of bronchitis. I had such a hard time breathing....talked to babs, she gave me the web address for the quit site once again, and the rest is history. Sometimes we stubborn old women need a good scare....
  10. Marti...babs quit like 9 months before me....she mentioned the support forum, told me occasionally how good she feels, and that's about as far as she went. Eventually, I came around... But you know, even if I didn't, there would've been nothing she could do to change it. Hopefully, your mum will join you soon. :)
  11. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I'm sorry, lace....but it reads like a comedy..... Glad you got all that mess cleaned up. Maybe a glass or two of wine with that cookie? :D
  12. THANK YOU, Nancy!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
  13. She could....LOL. I'm waiting for her to volunteer.... :D
  14. I had one on another board, but it didn't come with me when I moved in here.... :D
  15. You probably don't remember the ashtrays in the armrests of all the movie theater seats, either.....and I'm pretty sure you never saw anyone smoking in the supermarket.....when I had my first baby there was an ashtray on the nightstand in my HOSPITAL ROOM....I kid you not. Incredible, looking back....
  16. Seriously....I'm having a fit here! I need my ticker! Help! :D
  17. In the beginning, it was ok. You could relieve your anxiety right there, on the plane, by smoking. Those thoughtful airline people actually supplied everyone with an ashtray built into the armrests. How great was that? Able to spend 9 hours in that familiar haze...everybody stunk because roughtly 75 % of the passengers smoked, and the ones that didn't, oh, well...tough luck for them, huh? Especially the kids.... Then it got a little harder...but still fine. The planes were divided into smoking and non smoking sections. So, as a smoker, you'd just pick the smoking section, and proceeded to, well...."relieve your anxiety". Then, those bastards banned smoking on the entire plane! What were they thinking? How utterly cruel and thoughtless towards us smokers....they didn't care HOW much we suffered. Still...we were able to "smoke ahead" before the plane took off, by finding the smoking section in the airport and smoke a half a pack or so...you know, to "stock up". And as soon as the plane landed, we rushed off and ran for the nearest smoking section....our relatives could wait another few minutes to see us, right? What's the rush? Our nicotine fix was much more important! Shortly thereafter, the final straw: NO SMOKING IN THE AIRPORT. Now, you had to go through security to check in your luggage, 2 hours ahead of your flight time, then run back through security while worrying about getting back in to the restricted passenger section, then you had to stand OUTSIDE in the freezing cold and smoke as many as you can before you had to go back in. Thank goodness the airport in Munich wasn't quite as bigoted against smokers, and had it's smoking sections. At least this way we were able to smoke a couple before we met my family. Oh, yeah. That's the way it went. So....last week I had occasion to fly down to Georgia. Smoking never even entered my mind, and I was able to relieve my stress by doing a crossword puzzle. :) ;) :D :)
  18. It didn't work 5 minutes ago, let's see what happens now....LOL
  19. Hi, Craig....some of us were getting tired of the constant drama (although, speaking strictly for myself, I thought it was kind of entertaining), which is why we're here. No drama, just nice people forming a human chain in mutual support. :) ;) Drama free.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
